Hazel glanced at the carpeted floor, tiny pieces of glitter wedged in the weft glinting light back up at her like a memory of girls past who had stood in her position. Rina was being kind to her and Hazel appreciated the tone she had taken with her - it wasnât too firm nor was it too patronising. The voice of her father played out in her head, warning her from ever associating herself with the darker side of the city. âTheyâll punish you.â His words were solemn and earnest. âTheyâll punish you for being my daughter.â Hazel detached from her musing and brought her eyes to meet Rinaâs again as she was questioned. She considered her answer carefully and shrugged. âI wouldnât say I liked the dancing,â her hand ran down the pole slowly âI like the attention...â Hazelâs lips curled into a devilish smirk. â...and the violence.âÂ
âWhatâs your name, bitch?â Desperate sweaty hands searched Hazelâs body, lips pressed firmly against her ear, fiercely growling at her. The stench of stale cigar smoke and alcohol rose up out of his skin. âAngel.â she shot back, keen to get out of the situation she found herself in. He granted her release. âBack room. Now.â Bianco generally hadnât seemed the type to actually visit his own club but had on the night before to speak to Hazel. They needed a girl to get a former business associate alone so they could speak with him privately. She was to make $1,000 for the trouble in return for her silence. Hazel didnât care to think too much into the details, for all she knew they were going to remove her from the room before anything else happened. The soon-to-be unlucky man possessively grabbed at her body constantly during their journey to the Fantasy Suite, rough hand landing firmly on her butt-cheek. It didnât occur to her until later that the Fantasy Suite was the only private lounge in the club that had a soundproof door. âTake a seat, baby.â she purred, pushing him down onto the velvet couch. Her eyes were already searching the rest of the room, waiting for whoever was supposed to be removing her. âIâm getting inpatient.â he snarled. Hazel straddled his lap and started to play with his tie with her now shaking hands. âGood things come to those who wait.â her voice was showing her fright, concerned that she was going to become more than just a witness to murder. @accurateassassin
Weekends were easy. Hazel only had to look good then take a couple of goes on stage and maybe a few visits to the private lounge to make over $800 a night. Easy. Tonight wasnât going to be an easy night. Hazel had clocked the sharp stare burning into her from across the room a while before he decided to descend upon her. She was only slightly inebriated, so was able to process most of what was happening around her whilst she had been on stage. Hazel likened him to a wolf stalking toward her through a misty forest. The look in his eyes made her feel weak and defenseless - a feeling she had learned to love over the past few weeks. The other patrons had parted for him to come forward so he must have some swing over this empire she was integrating herself in. He was handsome, tall, confident.. and when heâd opened his wallet to tip her she could see he was also burdened with cash. Cash that she was determined to have tucked into her garter by his own hand that evening. âYou look dangerous. My daddy told me not to accept gifts from dangerous men.â she smirked and gently placed her hand on his outreached arm to help her step from the stage. âBut I might be able to make an exception if you wanna get me a drink?â
Hazel took a relieved sigh and sat up. âSorry, Iâm still getting used all this shit.â she looked around at the room, eyed glazed over with disdain. There was something so sordid about this particular room that she found oddly fascinating. The lights danced on the walls and for a moment she sat in silence watching them, hypnotized by the way they were perfectly synchronized with the music. âDo you still want me to dance for you?â Hazel pulled herself up so she was standing by the pole again, her posture reflecting the shift of power between them. She didnât wait for an answer. âTheyâre blue. As in, um-â she carefully considered her next words. âLaw enforcement? Fuck. Weird right?â Hazel tried to lighten the mood but her voice still had a quiver to it. âI donât speak to them, though. They think I work as a PA... but I suppose you could call this personal assistance, right?â she calmed suddenly and laughed at herself. âI just assist quite a few different guys per night.âÂ
