where are my goth friends who will take flattering candids of me at the cemetery
i love looking at beautiful people. i mean you exist LIKE THAT and oh my, i go wild.
I was just at the grocery store buying some stuff and a plant because Plants🌿Make🌿Happy and as I was leaving I heard a couple behind me whispering “look she has a plant” “she does ? wait I want a plant too” and. idk that was very cute
I just finished The Goldfinch and now my heart is full
Man I’m so involved in Punk Academia rn
Apart from the fashion (which fucks as it is), it’s just SUCH an important mindset to me. There is a lot of elitism in the DA fandom and while pretty editions of Shakespeare plays are fun, education should never be exclusive.
And while many teenagers are attracted to DA because they want to be different from their peers, it’s SO important to realise that you’re not better than other people because you read classics. Education should always be a matter of lifting others up and sharing your knowledge, not hoarding it and laughing at people you think of as lesser
Cyber academia
squatting a deserted mansion falling into pieces, machines and cables plugged in the middle of empty and hollow rooms, wearing sloppy antiques pajamas all day, living in the night with only the green light of your screen, the sound of compulsively typing echoing under the high ceilings
bare mattress on the floor and fucked up furniture you found on the street, catching your reflexion in the stained mirror, going on the roof at the risk of breaking your neck to sleep among the stars, playing furiously on the abandoned piano to vent your frustration from that code you're trying to crack, marble statues with spray painted inscriptions on them, the street cats keeps you company, writing codes like you'd write poems, technology is your love language
hacking into rich erudite libraries to get yourself files of rare manuscrit while trying to impress that cute ancient languages professor, projecting black and white movies in the old ballroom to watch with them, sitting in a ragged sofa sharing the same blanket and eating Chinese take-out, meeting in dinner's with the seats covered in green velvet and kissing the back of their hands in the dark
The Order is like. Dark academia not taking itself seriously. Also cute Hamish.
I for one find it HILARIOUS that non-french authors talk about paris as though it was the most beautiful city in the world (the architecture,,,,,,the history,,,,the cafes,,,,LA VILLE DE L'AMOUR) and meanwhile French authors are like WAS THERE ONCE I'M NEVER GOING BACK TO THIS SHITHOLE AND YOU SHOULDN'T EITHER
Having the whole world just in looove with Paris because they think it's sooo romantic while the majority of France hate that fucking city with a burning passion will never not be funny to be me
My favourite part of If We Were Villains is the part where Oliver thinks he's the narrator but Literally everyone else knows he's the hero and this oblivious ball of bisexual yearning, this soft cinnamon bun of a boy, this selfless, loyal, humble lil bitch, bless him, is so genuinely surprised every time he gets complimented, so basically the whole entire book.
Oliver : * blush when he receive a compliment *
me : fucking superb, you funky little shakespearian nerd
I just want to express my pure and endless love for dramatic disney prince James Farrow, the epitome of the tragic hero and the actual owner of my heart.
Also, he called Oliver a fur seal once, and we don't talk about it as much as we should.
okay but james farrow pretending to be a leopard and committing to the point that he just prowls around in the dark ??? and pounces on oliver ??? dumbass energy meets total absorption i guess
Everyone’s yearning for the Romeo and Juliet play and the “Be ruled by me / Forget to think of her ” line, or the King Lear one with the “Worthy prince, I know’t” moment but I Am Here to plead the Macbeth case because James staring at Oliver “somehow looking impressed and completely revolted at the very same time” and then telling him he look “fucking incredible” and getting jealous when the girls touch him - and especially Meredith whose hand’s “wandered all the way up to his mouth, fingertips tracing his lower lip” - is a whole fucking kink.
I mean...
"My heart leapt up into my throat. I stepped into the light for the second time, blood slick and gleaming on my skin. James gaped up at me, and the audience all turned together. Stifled screams fluttered on the surface of the silence.
“Horrible sight,” James said, weakly."
...yeah.
Everyone's yearning for the Romeo and Juliet play and the "Be ruled by me / Forget to think of her " line, or the King Lear one with the "Worthy prince, I know’t" moment but I Am Here to plead the Macbeth case because James staring at Oliver "somehow looking impressed and completely revolted at the very same time" and then telling him he look "fucking incredible" and getting jealous when the girls touch him - and especially Meredith whose hand's "wandered all the way up to his mouth, fingertips tracing his lower lip" - is a whole fucking kink.
Iwwv : intricate story about the blur between the self and the role we play in the eyes of others, the Work of Shakespeare, the dramatic and theatrical aspect of being young and hungry for knowledge and passion
me : * spend 95% of the book screaming at Oliver and James to happen already *
call me an extremist all you want, but i’m loving the new branches of academia that are developing. why stop at dark and light academia??? give me punk academia. chaotic academia. grunge academia. i want to see every possible aesthetic eventually make it’s way to academia if it’s the last thing i do.
Me with every fanfiction read at 2AM on a tuesday night ever.
Punk academia is literally art school.
It's the academy as a whole community of students who want to make a new word full of freedom and ideas. Art students are smart, creative, and they are fucking metal. They believe in magic, diversity and dismantling the patriarchy. We create projects and form associations, spread posters and fanzines, we are part of the revolution, and the professors are with us.
Also, thirst for knowledge is definetly the thing that power the whole concept of art school.
