"Cultivate the formless mindset that "things have no fixed form." and let go of the arrogance of “I exist” that lurks in the mind. Then you will live with a peaceful mind." Buddha (Sutta Nipata 342)
"ものには定まった姿が無い、という無相のおもいを修せよ。我ありと思う慢心のような、心に潜む傲慢をすてよ。そうすれば汝は心静まったものとして日々を送るであろう。"

Plays that I worked on.
Absurdo, directed by Varoon and Gaurav from Kaivalya Plays I started working on Absurdo in October of 2023. I didn’t know that we will be working on many stories from different authors. Which meant the linear style of theatre narrative wasn’t going to be there. So, maintaining a strong form was essential while moving from one story to another. …दरारें directed by Akshay Raheja This play was…

Hello. To the times that we are living in, where we like to quantify. Put a number to activities and living. Let me add to it!
Well, I'm glad that I recorded 100 km of my running. What does that even mean? I'm not sure. What it does to me is feel a little elated about my abilities. The context is I have not run for almost two years due to a knee injury.
This is a poem by Kunwar Narayan.
Numbers don't mean anything. The poet says that there is no difference between winning everything and not giving up.

February-April, 2023 This post is to let you all know what I was up to for these two months. Where was I? What was I doing? Firstly, why would I like you to know all these details? I guess it matters to me. And why this particular platform? For me there is some meaning here and character. So, I was in Goa. Specifically, in a small remote village called Karmane, South Goa. I was volunteering…

November to January I am backtracking what I’ve done in the past year or so. This post is about the classes that I teach at Jamia Milia Islamia. I teach ‘Acting for Animators’ for Masters in Animation and Visual Effects students. Last year when I was doing this course online, I asked them before the start of every class – why do you think ‘acting’ for animators. They came with their answers,…

PEOPLE UNDER FLYOVER.
Every time I walk towards my dojo, i see them. Waking up- brushing their teeth or drinking tea or washing their face. Some of them are still under their blankets. There are more women than men in their tribe.
I have seen them smiling and eating or talking to each other. I see them leading a life openly under the flyover - there is a certain ease and acceptance.
Yesterday, i felt moved by looking at them. This does not happen so often. I was wondering how they are living with the noise of vehicles and dust flowing. I mask myself when I walk along that road. I was wondering how they are living with this burning heat- the summers of Delhi. I got down from the metro - which for me was too cold- to go to the dojo. I was wondering what we are doing for them? Can we do something? How can I bring some more ease and relief or joy. Maybe less hardship.
It's been more than a week since I have started to run again. Run again? - after the ligament injury that i sustained while performing a jump for a theatre performance.
It has been quite an uphill task not to run again but negotiating with the urge and joy of running after the injury. I realised how I missed running after running the first mile. I read today that our calves are our second lungs- they maintain the flow of blood in the lower part of the body. To run more - here's the link for the poem that talks about achieving and not giving up. And how they are the same.
P.s- I have logged in close to 40km.
This is a poem by Kunwar Narayan.
Allow me to share some old paintings and art work. Here. -
Later on, i will be sharing some more.
I went to my Aikido class. In the morning i was reluctant to get up. My body was telling me to sleep for 5...3...2... minutes more. It was very funny, the alarm was at 5 am, i was much ready to turn it off even before it rang. I managed to make myself up, drink coffee, put in my nicely folded uniform, bottle and New Yorker in the bag. Rubbed my legs with some sesame oil. I was off on my cycle to the Metro station.
It occurred to me while walking towards the Dojo that Aikido is so humbling. You are made to fall on the matted floor and then you pick yourself back up. Ready to attack with the other hand. And off you're on the floor again. Up and down, like a circular motion. It is an art form where defenders( tori) and attackers( uke) come together to create something beautiful. In Aikido, i feel, our and the Bodies of the others are the canvas. I have to know and work with the Body of the other, while also being aware of how my own Body is reacting.
