Day 2

Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland is one of the premiere songs for the lutherian-protestant Advent, usually sung on the First Sunday. It was published in the Erfurter Enchiridion, one of the first protestant hymnals, in 1524. Luther translated the Christmas hymn Veni redemptor gentium ascribed to Saint Ambrose of Milan. The melody is based on a manuscript from the Einsiedeln cloister which dates around 1120, though it likely originates from a few centuries earlier. It’s been arranged numerous times, most famously by Bach for two cantatas (BWV 61 and BWV 62, links go to chorals).

Day 4 - Maria durch ein’ Dornwald ging (text)

This is one of the rarer songs that haven’t been circulated through liturgy. Originally it’s not been a dedicated advent song but was rather a pilgrimage song that became popular in the Paderborn diocese mid 19th century; there’s attempts to date to trace it back to the 16th century but evidence remains very thin. It found wider popularity through the Catholic youth movement of the beginning 20th century.

Hello Tumblr, if anybody is still here, it’s been some time! I’ve been busy trying to be a responsible adult, get a degree, earn a living and such things but now I’ve got some free headspace to have a spiritual crisis about Caleb from Love and Deepspace who is some kind of woobie kryptonite tailormade for my id. I’m, uh, going through something. I'm trying to get back into fanart again which I have not done in many years. Might not have as much time as I'd like but let's see. I might reblog it to here from a new blog I made for that fandom so you don’t have to read my unhinged ramblings inbetween if you don’t care to. Please let me know if you'd be interested!

I've also just looked at this old pro cycling sideblog I had for a bit (it was ... a phase) and omg the art I made on there was actually fire???? And I was churning that shit out, like a new piece every other day. I actually went to illustration school a bit after that and I think my soul is only now recovering from how absolutely fucking awful that was. (Like, just kind of killed my creative spark.) In the mood for drawing pretty boys again now!
