a month or so ago i was walking through a really bad rainstorm and i saw four people clinging to eachother trying to share one umbrella,

but it was like, only three of them fit under the umbrella, with two of them still getting semi rained on because the rain was falling at an angle. and the fourth guy was just completely outside the umbrella, it didn't cover anything for them, but they still clung to the third person just as much, despite being completely drenched, despite the umbrella doing nothing for them

a long time ago back when i was really really new to online queer spaces and just social media in general (i think i was 13ish) I saw someone with multiple sets of pronouns for the first time, i think it was something like she/they

and i dont know why, but i interpreted it in the MOST complicated way possible. Ill have to explain it actually, (under the cut i dont wanna text dump on people lmao)

because the way pronouns are written is (possessive pronoun)/(singular third person), so it has two "slots" (example: xe/xem, they/them, he/him etc)

so anything in the first "slot" can only and only be used in a possessive way. for example, for the set she/they, you can only use she but you can't use they in the same place of a sentence as she (why???? i dont know. i was 13)

same goes for the second slot, you cant use her in this context, because "they" is in the second slot meaning you can only use "them" but not "her" (wouldn't they have written it as she/them if that was the intention, why did i even come to this conclusion??)

worst part is i actually tried to follow this, id keep track of what "type" i was using so i could put the correct pronoun in the correct "slot" when i was talking to someone. my brain would've melted if i saw someone with three sets of pronouns, its actually a miracle i didn't.

Im pretty sure the fact that english isn't my first language contributes to this, and so I'd just grown to expect this language to pull some nonsense that i didn't for a second question my strange and convoluted interpretation, like yea, english would do that. no big deal, we adapt.

also this whole thing should've qualified me for some kind of diagnosis almost immediately, how did they let me get away with being so neurodivergent for so long
