@witchezofoz (Mod): you scare me. [ He could SOMEHOW sleep on the most uncomfortable places possible... ]
⚠️ Use of Weed/Blunt, mentioned of Alcohol and mentioned of attempted s#icid3
Mōna angst ahead!
He knew that he had been told many times to stop with his smoking weed tendencies, and chugging down alcohol bottles as if it's water. But it's never really that easy. After all, once you start. You'll grow accustomed to it.
To the point that you can't live without it just to make your view on this hellish world a little easier.
It was what he told himself over and over again as he stared at the blunt he managed to sneaked after snatching one from the store out, and far from camp. Was it bad? Definately so. But did he care? Well... It's complicated, really.
He was out of it, for sure he was. With the world looking funny around him, it made his shoulders eased as if the weight— the burden. Was magically lifted off, but even when he was high. He knew deep down that it's far from the truth and—
You shouldn't be doing this.
Then a nagging voice appeared on the back of his head as he puff out a smoke, trying to ignore it. He looks at the stars as if it held answers, only to received none.
This is very uncharacteristic of you.
He knows that, but what was he anyways? Who was he to begin with? Fuck, his head was a mushed of shit that he couldn't fathom, it made it all ridiculous. Taking a long drag of the blunt before blowing the smoke out.
You're making them more worried, what type of friend and boyfriend are you?
Of course he knows that, every single night he did something like this, a gnawing feeling of guilt crept up within his chest. He have always seen himself as an honest kid, always blunt and true to himself.
But was it really? Or are you telling lies just to keep people at arms length like you always do? That's now what she told you.
Gods, shut up.
You've got people who cares for you, and here you are. Getting high like a pathetic loser you are, have some shame.
Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. Mōna thought in his head, feeling himself visibly agitated by the voices in his head.
Maybe if you weren't so attached to begin with, you might as well drowned like you did once.
...
He let out a shaky sigh, the night stretching on. And for once, the peacefulness of the forest felt like it's mocking him for being alone. For being so... afraid.
Yet, here he was. Getting high like he always do. Getting high just to escaped from everything, now. Don't get him wrong, he got nice friends and a pretty cool boyfriend. (Plus a gorgeous medic)
But fuck, he felt alone right now.
And a part of him thinks that it's his own fault on why, there was really no one to blame but himself.
Before he knew it, a single tear rolled down his face, but as quickly as it appeared. He wipe it off with a disgusted scoff, he never liked crying. Or at least, wasn't fond with it. Sure, he told them all it's okay to cry, and that it wasn't a weakness at all.
What a hypocrite that he was.
He sighs, staring blankly in the distance.
...
He burst out laughing, laughed so hard he falls down on the grass. Why was he laughing to begin with? Oh he don't know, he doesn't know. His situation was just hilarious, and he doesn't know what to feel about it.
Laughed so hard his breathing turned heavy, and he stops laughing to regained some air like he just drowned. Staring at the sky, he put the blunt on his lips and inhaled it, taking it out to puffed out the smoke towards the sky.
Will looked at the s'more cookie in his hand, and then back at Mōna.
"You made all of this yourself??" He said, with awe clear in his tone. He couldn't believe how he'd gotten so lucky; not one, but two people who care about him so much as to share their favourites with him.
Will took a bite of the cookie and oh. He didn't mean to moan but—"The cookie just melted in my mouth oh my gods."
Mōna's expression was neutral, though, the way his ears tinted a slight red and the corner of his lips twitched betrayed his true emotions. He was secretly grateful that Will's likes his cooking, and his favourite food.
But was it necessary to moan??? He didn't really understand people who do that over food, maybe it's because the food is too good or whatever. Will's moaning sounded hot though.
“uh, yeah. I'm glad you like it” He simply said, taking one for himself and putting the cookie in-between his lips. Closing his eyes as he bites on it, eating quietly and peacefully.
“A place where it's just us” Mōna respond, a small blush coating his pale cheeks as he extended a hand. Gesturing for Will to hold it.
“Just— I know it's night, but trust me on this.” he added, looking at Will in the eyes. His expression neutral, and yet, his eyes were hopeful as he gaze at Will's blue eyes. “And no, it's not one of Stoll's prank that I was forced to be in. I'm asking you out on a... Date, for real.”
Mōna stared down at the feeling of warm hands against his cold skin, their temperature and skin colour was a far contrast against one another. The 'simple' act of holding hands made his heart skipped a beat in his chest, though, he tried to ignore it and focus on his next act.
He cleared his throat, not saying anything else but guiding Will out of camp borders. Making sure there were no monsters around, and making sure they weren't caught by the harpies patrol.
After 30 minutes of walking, they saw a long thick looking bush in front of them. But Mōna didn't stopped walking, he continued forward.
As he let his hand go through the bushes, he pushed them apart, gently dragging Will to the other side of the bush. And what awaits them were a field of flowers filled with different kinds, and a sky above them where they could see the stars without it getting blocked by trees.
How Mōna find this place was a story for another time.
The child of Hypnos gave Will a gentle squeeze once they arrived at the picnic blanket he set earlier, he reluctantly let go of the blonde boy's hand to take a seat on the blanket, patting the space besides him as an invitation.
The walk did a lot to calm Will's nerves, but the way Mōna glowed in the moonlight did nothing to calm his nerves. Aunt Artemis really wanted him to go into cardiac arrest.
The picnic spot was absolutely beautiful.
"I love stargazing. When I was younger, my ma and I used to travel a lot, for her career. A lot of the times we'd stop at odd places between jobs, with little to no light pollution, and she'd name every star she could." Will sat down next to Mōna, thighs not quite touching.
Mōna nods his head “Yeah, I found this place when I tried to run away after my first 3 days of staying in camp. Plan failed when Percy found me” he said, his calm golden eyes was set on looking straight to Will. As if he knew his very soul. He gotta admit, Will was beautiful under the stars and moonlight, not to mentioned. The flowers.
Like staring at a painting in a museum.
“Come to think of it, I've done a lot of self-destructive behaviour in the past compared to now.” he muttered, tearing his gaze away from the blonde to look up at the stars. His eyes softening ever so slightly.
"Though, picnic is just one of the surprises. There's two other things later.” he said, the corner of his lips lift up in a faint smile “Of course I'm not going to tell you what it is, you'll have to find it out yourself.“
Will smiled softly at Mōna. Most of everyone at camp had astory like that, and none of them were fun to either hear nor tell. It was a testament to Mōna's strength that he was still here.
"Well, I can't wait for whatever else ya've got planned, but just know, your presence means that you survived, and you healed. That's what matters the most."
His hand betrayed his thoughts as he reached up to brush out hair covering Mōna. There, now the view was much better.
Mōna didn't expect for Will to be this courageous, brushing a strand of his hair behind his ear like it's the most natural thing ever. He faintly blush, barely, but still there if you look close enough.
"uh.. yeah, thanks." He awkwardly said, rubbing the side of his neck a bit. He wasn't used to this type of comments, mostly because of lingering doubt. I mean, sure. Nico tells him that a few— or maybe a lot of times too.
But there are also a time where he just couldn't bring himself to agree about the nice things being said to him.
He wasn't used to it.
...
It was silent for a few minutes, just gazing at the stars, hoping the other will speak up. And so, Mōna open his mouth to speak.
Mōna huffs at Will's response, but glad nonetheless that his day was good. “I don't really talk often, I used to be mute as a kid. So.. I don't know what to say sometimes.” he muttered, fidgeting with the edge of his sleeve a bit.
“I prefer listening than talking.” he added, his eyes not tearing away from the night sky filled with clear stars.
"Huh." Will huffed. "I didn't know you were mute as a kid." He shifts his gaze contemplatively to the stars.
"You don't always have to say something though, I get it. The preferring to listen part. Ma always taught me to be a good listener, and I was the weird kid who sat alone at lunch, so I didn't talk much outside. But oh boy, she told me that I was a chatterbox." He chuckles. "You should be glad that's not me anymore, or I'd end up talking your ear off, no matter how much you like to be the listener."
“Yeah,” He said “It's a really... Painful experience why I couldn't speak properly, I was only 8 when the accident happened.” Mōna muttered, looking at the stars as his fingers subconsciously touch the fabric of his scarf where it covers his neck.
Then he let his hand lay limp on his lap, listening to Will's words was like listening to music. And he wants to hear more of it.
Without hesitation, he hums softly “I don't mind... Your pretty voice already made me wanna listen to you talk more.” He blurted out with a calm, nonchalant blink.
Will's posture went rigid, eyes clearly widened as his gaze was still turned skywards. He felt like something hard was lodged in his throat, and weighing down on his chest.
"Well, uhm, thanks. If you wanna talk about it, you can, y'know? I'd... Like to know what happened." He shifts towards Mōna a little more, feet entwined.
Mōna stayed silent, he didn't move. But the moment he looks at the stars above him, calm his nerves. He sighs, hooking his finger around his scarf to pull it down. He turned to look at Will with blank eyes.
What lies beneath the scarf was a cut wound on his throat, healed. But it left a scar.
“War.” he flatly said, “It happened in war. Long, long time ago.” he finished.
Mōna flinch back when Will suddenly touch his scar, blinking when he realize what he did. He put his scarf up again, a bit embarrassed for reacting that way.
He didn't say anything about what Will said first, instead, he answered the other one by taking the basket and putting it between them both.
"S'more cookies and egg sandwiches. Plus mango and orange juice." He said.
Mōna hums, ignoring the stare he was given to by the blonde. "No one told me, I just—" his ears tinted red despite his neutral expression "nevermind that. Uhh, since you haven't tried s'more cookies yet, you should. It's genuinely good and my..." He looks away.
"my favourite." He finished, he didn't know why his heart was raising after Will touched his neck. Maybe because the contrast between Will's warmth and his cold skin scent goosebumps through his body.
As much as he hates to admit it, the feeling wasn't really... Uncomfortable.
Mōna nodded his head, a bit embarrassed. He was not used to people knowing what he likes, considering no one bother to ask him that before until he met... Whatever, now's not the time to dwell in the past. But as he was telling himself, it still caught him off guard when people noticed him, show him kindness or ask him about his interest, likes, dislikes and favourites.
He put his hand inside the basket to pull out the s'more cookie, giving it to Will. His calm golden eyes gazing for a 5 seconds long when his fingers brushed against Will's, and he pulled away slowly to rest it on his own knee. Clearing his throat a bit.
"They're... Really good as I stated before," he said, grabbing a S'more cookie to to bite on. "I made all these myself" he shrugs "I just thought it'll be nice to get back to it." He finished, his teeth biting through the cookie.
