وهذا الحديثُ صريحٌ في أن أفضلَ ما تُطُوِّعَ بهِ مِن الصِّيامِ بعدَ رمضانَ صومُ شهرِ اللهِ المحرَّمِ…
وقد سَمَّى النَّبيُّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم - المُحَرَّمَ شهرَ اللهِ (٣)، وإضافتُهُ إلى اللهِ تَدُلُّ على شرفِهِ وفضلِهِ؛ فإنَّه تَعالى لا يُضيفُ إليهِ إلَّا خواصَّ مخلوقاتِهِ، كما نَسَبَ مُحَمَّدًا وإبْراهيمَ وإسْحاقَ ويَعْقوبَ وغيرَهُم مِن الأنبياءِ صلواتُ اللهِ وسلامُهُ عليهِم إلى عبوديَّتِهِ ونَسَبَ إليهِ بيتَهُ وناقتَهُ (٤)
…وقد قيلَ في معنى إضافةِ هذا الشَّهرِ إلى اللهِ إنَّهُ إنَّهُ إشارةٌ إلى أن تحريمَهُ إلى اللهِ عَزَّ وجَلَّ ليسَ لأحدٍ تبديلُهُ كما كانَتِ الجاهليَّةُ يُحِلُّونَهُ ويُحَرِّمونَ مكانَهُ صَفَرَ، فأشارَ إلى أنَّهُ شهرُ اللهِ الذي حَرَّمَهُ فليسَ لأحدٍ مِن خلقِهِ تبديلُ ذلكَ وتغييرُهُ… مختصراً من كتاب لطائف المعارف فيما لمواسم العام من الوظائف () وظائف شهر الله المحرم لابن رجب
الله يصطفي ما يشاء من الزمان والمكان
قَالَ الْعِزُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ السَّلَامِ رحمه الله : وَتَفْضِيلُ الأَمَاكِنِ وَالأَزْمَانِ ضَرْبَانِ : أَحَدُهُمَا : دُنْيَوِيٌّ .. وَالضَّرْبُ الثَّانِي : تَفْضِيلٌ دِينِيٌّ رَاجِعٌ إلَى أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَجُودُ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِيهَا بِتَفْضِيلِ أَجْرِ الْعَامِلِينَ , كَتَفْضِيلِ صَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ عَلَى صَوْمِ سَائِرِ الشُّهُورِ , وَكَذَلِكَ يَوْمُ عَاشُورَاءَ .. فَفَضْلُهَا رَاجِعٌ إلَى جُودِ اللَّهِ وَإِحْسَانِهِ إلَى عِبَادِهِ فِيهَا .. قواعد الأحكام 1/38 فضل شهر الله المحرّم
Qiyam Al-Layl is a confirmed Sunnah. Many texts of the Quran and Sunnah encourage it and speak of its high status and great reward.
Qiyam Al-Layl plays a great role in strengthening one’s faith and helping one to do good deeds. …
He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said: “You should pray Qiyam Al-Layl , for it is the custom of the righteous who came before you and it brings you closer to your Lord, and expiates sins and prevents misdeeds.” (Narrated by At-Tirmidhi, 3549; classed as sound by Al-Albani in Irwa’ Al-Ghalil, 452)
“The custom of the righteous” means it was their usual practise.
“It brings you closer to your Lord” means, it is an act of worship by means of which one may draw closer to Allah.

The month of Allah, al-Muharram, is a great and blessed month. It is the first month of the Hijri year and is one of the sacred months concerning which Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months (in a year), so was it ordained by Allah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are Sacred, (i.e. the 1st, the 7th, the 11th and the 12th months of the Islamic calendar). That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein.” [Soourat at-Tawbah 9:36].
…But the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) never fasted any month in full apart from Ramadan.
