Ichigo is such a top tier protagonist cause on the one hand he is such a prime example of "kind but not nice" and he's good all the way to his core and he's traumatized and hurt and all he wants to do is help people and yet he acts like a feral cat most of the time because he is 15. he also has such an insane case of reckless confidence that I spend half the time yelling "IDIOT DUMBASS CHILD" at my screen

I love how Ichigo approaches Hueco Mundo with openness and curiosity.

He comes to the world of dead souls and bones and empty hearts and the first thing he does is notice something thriving and reassesses it from being a "dead world" to someplace alive.

Nobody else does this.

No one else, human or shinigami, appreciates or notices in any way that Hueco Mundo is a complete place with little critters and comfy sand to lay on. The most they have is textbook facts about it they give in answer, like Ishida telling Ichigo the little hollow subsists on the denser than other places ambient reishi in the air.

Everyone else looks at it with dread and fear, is focused on saving Inoue or gearing up to cross the desert, but Ichigo is actually looking around and appreciating the place, is wondering about it.

Also: I love how he's the only one that flops out, stretching comfortably all over the place as easily as home, visually embracing and joining the landscape while the other's carefully pick closed in spots to sit:

Just like in when he arrived in Soul Society he was comfortable being there and interacting with the world and people when the others were in a rush or treating it as strange and discomforting, Ichigo is again the only one able to simply be in this world like it's natural. Because it is for him.

Just...Ichigo is the only one part-hollow here and he's also the only one showing real ease being there. Unlike Ishida and Chad, this is Ichigo's world as much as the living and Soul Society worlds are. He belongs here and fits here in a way they don't, and realizing that is going to be the crux of his character development through the following arc, and right here in a moment of rest he's kind of foreshadowing that.

kinda obsessed with a lil au where instead of his powers draining completely, the final getsuga rips open a wound akin to nel's on ichigo's body, causing energy to constantly be leaking outta him like with her. and so he gets the same result. de-aging a few years and getting stuck like that. him and the rest of his soul

(I know it probably doesn't make sense for the quincy zangetsu to wind up in his bankai form cuz it's supposed to be his more powerful one, but shh. I love the idea of him, seeing as he's visibly older than the other 2, not having to wind up as young as them when he gets affected by this. and most of all, I love the prospect of him have to babysit the other 2 and being so, so done)

One big draw of omega verse fanfiction is to play with gendered expectations and their horrors in an exaggerated way/heightened in a way that it feels less real and easier to approach (also its hot, lets not forget that), Dean in canon struggles a lot with binding his self worth to a limited view of masculinity while also having a connection to things he views as female; he is often pushed in the caretaker role toward his younger brother and while he genuine enjoys some of it, the lack of choice is always a thorny aspect. Dean Winchester would hate being an omega, and torturing him is something canon (and fanon) loves to do.

Do I even need to explain? He's THE omega.

Speculations range from Sokyoku Hill to beyond the last district of the Rukongai to the various biomes of Hueco Mundo to some place that hasn't been discovered yet because this is Ichigo they're talking about.
