I really like how this post shows when something sad happens, Thirteen pockets her hands.

Thirteen’s a lot more touch adverse than her former selves but its less noticeable because she’s so bubbly and friendly. The most she’s done is hug Nadja and then the shoulder pats Ryan and Yaz as gestures of affection (Resolution).

In ‘It Takes You Away’, its Thirteen herself who feels sad and nostalgic for something she can never have. It’s one of the few times we’re allowed into the Doctor’s head and its so poignant.

Yes, and these also are times when she’s trying to be quiet and gentle.

Usually Thirteen gives off a lot of manic energy: rambling and grinning and running around. Putting her hands in her pockets underlines how careful and deliberate she’s being. 

Part of her is still open, but part of her is also closed off as well – which sums up a lot about Thirteen really.
