STAGE 6 the right eye is almost finished!! im real happy with it even though the eyelashes were a struggle! :)

This is an A3 portrait of my sister i drew last year for my final work at school. I completely forgot to post stuff i did at school haha

the process of drawing this portrait was very similar to the portrait im working on now, except it was like 10 times smaller! :)

Back when I made my clay whale sculpture for school last year I forgot to post but yeah basically its saying that orca whales shouldn't be put in captivity like seaworld etc.and its something I have a really strong opinion about!!!

STAGE 5

I shaded the bottom lip a lot darker than the top lip like in the photo and added some lines for the cracks in the bottom lip (same way i did for top lip)andded some highlights. I later blended the shadow on the top lip more because it looked a but too bold. more updates coming soon!! ill start on the eyes next i reckon :)

STAGE 4

I then added the bottom teeth, making sure i shaded them really dark so they looked like they were behind the top teeth.

STAGE 3

i started the upper lip by lightly shading the whole area with an H or B soft pencil, then i drew some small lines for the upper lip cracks or wrinkles. I then went over the small lines with a paper stump and added some highlights with an electric eraser and started shading the bottom lip.

STAGE 2

for this stage i began to fill in details using the photo as a reference and used an 8B Mars-Lumograph pencil to make the pupils as black as possible. not sure why but i left the eyes and moved on to the corners of the mouth. For the shadowing on the teeh from the upper lip and nose i used paper stumps of different sizes to smudge the lead pencil.

STAGE 1

i used a projector to outline the main features onto the white piece of card so that i had all the right proportions as my theme is photorealism so it has to be exactly like the photo :)

i havent posted for ages because i havent had any spare time to do what i wanna do because of stupid year 12 buuuuut i have been working on a VERY large portrait of my cousin for my final work (im doing visual art as a subject) and its coming along slowly but nicely! looking forward to showing you guys! might post its progress idk x
