Almost abstract illustrative collages by artist Richard Liu who says of his work, “I am a Chinese-American, raised in two very different cultures, and therefore I have been exposed to significantly diverging viewpoints, rituals, and customs. I use the image of black white and color, abstract and realism, symbolism and direct depiction in my works to contrast my experiences and create harmonious artworks. Even the materials I employ, like traditional chinese watercolor 工笔 (gongbi) and graphite reflect disparity.”
