it should have been simple. that was the cruelest lie. getting better, i mean. all i had to do was stop counting calories. stop thinking about numbers. stop planning my next meal and my next way to erase it. all i had to do was stop running from the thing my body needed to survive. but how do you escape an addiction when the addiction is everywhere? when the thing that hurts you is also the thing you need every single day. how do you let go of a voice that has lived inside your head longer than you have known peace? i wanted freedom. i just did not know how to find it without first learning how to exist.
