Hi! New to clown husbandry but ykw I'm down to CLOWN
Just this morning, I found what I assume is a clown right at my door? (I live on the 8th floor idk how he got up here by himself) Other than the fact that he is SMALL (maybe 1 foot tall??) and alone, he looks otherwise clean and harmless. I opened the door and he waddled on in, and now hes honking at me for something? I don't know what he wants? I personally would LOVE to take him in, but I'm not sure what type of clown he is (and thus what care he needs) or what he's even doing here, can someone pls help?
he looks like this (like a lil ringmaster <3) >>
Your hunch is right, as it seems to be a pygmy ringleader. It needs to have a group of similarly sized clowns to manage, though playing with plushies with it will work.
Its habitat is a circus tent (diameter of 3-7 meters, height of about 2.5 meters), and it eats some meat, such as a chicken leg, some fruits like grapes, and some candies. It's a big fan of theatrics and may act ceremonious or flamboyant. It's best to go along with its games, as that's one form of play.
Hula hoops work well as representatives of the "3 ring circus" idea. I mean, "ring" is in its name.
Just as is the case with many clowns, socializing and performing are necessary parts of life for it, and it must do each of those between 1 and 4 times per week. Too many and it may become overwhelmed. Too few and its life loses purpose.
Honking is usually a sign of affection or excitement. It likes you, but you should be sure to consider its needs before adopting. Take care!
(holy shit, writing this made me think I would totally watch a clown husbandry themed documentary, with someone doing a Dave Attenborough impression over footage of clowns in their natural habitats)
Thank you sm for all the info!! A pygmy ringleader sounds so CUTE! I think I can get the food ready p easily, but idt I hv the resources to adopt another clown apart from this one, so plushie companions will hv to do for now. I'll also look into some local clown communities for his socialising :) Also, living in an apartment, I think I shall convert my spare room into the habitat for him :)) As for weekly performances, that sounds absolutely adorable <333 I am personally a big fan of theatrics (theatre kid myself :>>> maybe thats why he likes me HAHA) so I'm super excited to love and take care of this lil champ ❤️ ill try to update abt him soon!!
(SAME a clown documentary (clownumentary) sounds so cool oml)
