Containing the Light

"Christ is not the only source of Light but He is the Light." - Fr. Glenn

The time I heard this phrase during the Lumino conference in Aklan, it really opened my eyes. Indeed, God isn't just the source of light for He, Himself is the light. It reminded me of our vision in CFC-Youth for Christ which is: "Young People Being and Bringing Christ Wherever they are." In this vision I can say that I contain the light and I should bring that light wherever I am.

Sabi ko nga, mahirap magbigay ng isang bagay na wala ka but then the Lord would always affirm and remind me that He is the Giver and I am blessed to be used by Him for His greater glory. I may not always be in the light but I will be the light for I contain the Lord inside my heart and it is where the rays of light and love will radiate. May God be praised!

Journey of Faith

It was 4 years ago, when I started as a neophyte in a school where I always try to ask myself, is this where I really belong? June 4, 2007- the day where I started my high school life, a life that I would always think difficult, a life that is confused, a life of change and a life of adjustments. I started to doubt with my capabilities. I was grateful that God gave me that teachers who would understand and support me in everything I do. November 23, 2007—the day where I decided to join the YFC community, I just joined because my cousin asked me and because of the sponsorship. Sometimes, we can see life unfair but because of this we intend to look at the things more clearly and we appreciate them in little things. Being in high school and in the community the same time would always be difficult if you would take a look at them but when you see these two things as a gift from God and pray for it, you would not thought that 4 years have gone so fast that right now you’re going to college. I was thankful God made my high school journey full of twist and colors. I was thankful that He gave me a lot of people that would inspire me and give me courage to go on. People would always say that you can’t do it at the same time you should know your priorities, YES, I should know my priorities and my priorities this time is my family, study and service. 

I'm grateful because I never wanted to have a life like this but God showed me that I was wrong and His plans are great. We can't ignore the fact that many will doubt of His capabilities but He is God and everything is possible to Him. Having this journey in my life is the greatest treasure I could keep. God is truly larger than life and this is the life He wanted for me. I can say that I am extraordinary because God created me. He's always full of surprises and reasons that give me strength to continually serve Him and keep my heart burning. 

Now, as I continue my book of journey with another chapter I'll be waiting for anything God would give to me. I'm praying that this heart of mine right now will always be on fire and the conviction I am holding will be shielded by prayer. Each day is a new battle and God will open new doors for us. I maybe just "Irene" but God created me to dream big together with Him and His people. I believe God created me to inspire people and be inspired by his people. Each of one has a story to tell and our journey will always continue.
