“Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” - Matthew 14:29-33 ⠀ How many times have we been like Peter? How many times have we allowed anxiety and doubt keep us from trusting in Jesus? Peter hesitated because Jesus was asking him to do something that did not make sense to him. However, Jesus never said that every time we had to trust Him it was going to make sense. We cannot live within the limitations of what we think is possible when we know all things are possible through Jesus. As A.W. Tozer said: “How completely satisfying to turn from our limitations to a God who has none.” So don’t let your anxiety limit your ability to trust in God. Let Him take control. Step out into the water, even when it seems to uncertain. He’s got this…there is no need to doubt at all. ⠀ My anxiety will have no power over me, and I will trust in You to give me all my peace. ⠀ In You I will calm down In You I will step out from the boat that slowly sinks from harnessing all my doubts. ⠀ In You I will let go of all those little things, That keep me far from You, and in anxiety. ⠀ My anxiety will have no power over me, and I will trust in You to give me all my peace. -Morgan Harper Nichols ⠀ Written by @morganhnichols for #TheDevoCo
