Children experiencing multiple Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are exposed to threatening and harmful environments on a regular basis.
Exposure to several adverse childhood experiences has been found to increase the risk of attempting suicide by as much as 1200%, the risk of getting lung disease by 400%, and can reduce life span by even 20 years in case of ACE scores of 6 or more.
A higher ACE exposure is also associated with a 4 time increase in prevalence of mental illness whilst still in childhood itself.
