I usually don’t get involved with these kinds of comments but this one today made me absolutely sick. As a girl on the Autism spectrum it’s important I speak out and use media to educate.
Firstly vaccines do not cause autism, the only experiment that showed this were proven to be falsified and the doctor in charge had his medical license stripped from him over it.
Secondly the only reason cases of ASD are rising is we’re getting better at diagnosing cases of it. Back to even twenty years ago the believed females could not have autism and that it only effected males something we obviously know is not true but also something ya females on the spectrum have had to fight for to be recognised and even then many go undiagnosed purely because it presents differently in girls and that other girls usually will teach us to blend making it hard to pick up on. So with modern research obvious the diagnosis rate is going to go up when you’ve been alienating a huge portion of those effected.
Finally, at this point these people are saying they would rather take the risk of/ actually letting their child die of preventable disease purely because they think Autism is so terrible they clearly don’t see us as people who are different they only see the label and buy into the scare mongering. Spoiler alert Autism is not something that needs to be destroyed or cured we are people too, we just think differently.
I feel as an autistic girl it’s important for me to be vocal to and try and dispel as much as I can because we may be on the spectrum but we are nothing less than anyone else. It’s hard to combine pin up and asd I hope to show others that we can be just as beautiful, loyal and strong as any other person some of us more so and help prove that we can do what we set out mind to.
