Hi, my name is Jamyah, but most people call me Myah. Writing this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, but my mom and I are at a breaking point, and we can no longer face this alone.

My mom is my hero in every sense of the word. She lives with lupus, a painful and debilitating autoimmune disease, yet she continues to work tirelessly just to keep us afloat. Even on the days when her body is begging for rest, she pushes through because giving up has never been an option for her. Watching someone you love suffer while still giving everything they have is a pain that’s hard to put into words.

I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, anxiety, and BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) and our current living situation has made managing my mental health incredibly difficult. The constant stress, instability, and lack of proper support have taken a serious toll on both of us. This isn’t just a difficult chapter in our lives — it’s a daily struggle to stay emotionally and physically afloat.

Our environment is no longer safe for our well-being. My mom is doing everything she can to get us to a place where we can access better healthcare and consistent mental health services — because survival should not come at the cost of our future. We know exactly what we need to do, but without help, we simply cannot get there.

Right now, we are urgently trying to raise enough to secure a safe place to live — to cover rent, a security deposit, and basic utilities like electricity and water. These are simple necessities, yet they feel painfully out of reach. A stable home would change everything. It would mean safety instead of fear, rest instead of constant stress, and hope instead of uncertainty.

This fundraiser isn’t about comfort or extras — it’s about survival. It’s about giving a sick, hardworking mother and her daughter the chance to breathe, to heal, and to finally live without the constant fear of what tomorrow may bring.
