In Ramadan, don’t just fast from food; fast from sins, heedlessness, and everything that burdens your soul.

One of the things that I learned from a Islamic sermon from Cherry Hill, NJ Imam John Starling (on YouTube) from right before Ramadan started was in Ramadan you should have three different types of goals. Here are the categories:

Three goals for Ramadan

One: avoiding sin or sinful behavior.

Two: increasing your religiosity.

Three: improving your character.

For me, my goals are to avoid backbiting, learn a new surah before the end of Ramadan, and eliminate my tendency towards anxiously worrying about the future, because it seems unIslamic to worry about something instead of trusting in Allah (SWT). Those are my goals for Ramadan. I mean, I really wanna memorize Surat al Kahf, but I don’t know if I will so if I can’t, I at least wanna memorize Surat Al Duha:
