“So like I said, we’re travelling around, we’re recruiting an army of people who wanna believe in something bigger than themselves, that’s where we’re at. I want you to know something, I’ve been travelling around and doing this for a little bit now, we’re kind of new, we’re just a couple of kids, we’re from, well tonight, we’re from St. Louis, if that’s cool with you…I want you to know that when you guys come out to shows and you know the words to these songs, it gives us confidence to go into maybe some big business buildings that ask us, ‘Now, why would you put that song to put on this CD’ or ‘Why would you write that song?’ I want you to know that you guys give us the confidence to say, ‘You know what? I think some people out there want some weirder songs. Maybe songs that say something, maybe songs that mean something, maybe songs that aren’t just for pop or just for making money, but things that I needed to say while making those songs and I found out that other people resonated with the words that I said and realized, 'I’m not alone in what I’m going through’. That’s a really good feeling. I wanna know something, I think this is interesting. I’m gonna ask you a question, and I wanna know the true answer. And I want to hear you if you mean it, if you don’t mean it, don’t say it, don’t scream, don’t yell, but if you mean it right now in this moment: are you guys happy that you’re alive tonight? *crowd cheers* Did you guys hear that? I mean, when you go out, when you leave this show, maybe you’ll forget the show, maybe you’ll forget some of the songs or whatever, but I want you to know something. If there’s one thing that you can remember, I want you to remember that sound that you guys made together. When you’re wondering, 'What’s the point?’ 'What’s my purpose?’ 'Why am I alive?’ When you’re trying to figure out if you should stay alive or not, just remember a room in St. Louis that you were in where a bunch of people said, 'Know what? I’m glad that I’m alive.“ Okay, so remember that, okay, can you remember that? Thank you.”
