CHAIN OF STRENGTH - The One Thing That Still Holds True (Revelation Records, 1996) 

I can’t say enough good things about this record. It’s of course a compilation of their 2 7″s plus an extra songs (Impact...not sure why it was left of as it’s one of their better songs!) Anyway...the songs are great, the artwork is great. One of my personal favs!

CELTIC FROST - Morbid Tales (Banzai Records, 1985, Canadian pressing)

This record would have been worth about $80 if it weren’t for the giant white scratch/paint mark which renders the first 2 songs unplayable. So now it is worth approx $0.00  It a pretty decent record...has a good punk influence to it. I still like my metal a little more Slayer styled, but this is cool.

CARRY ON - A Life Less Plagued (Bridge 9 Records, 2001, clear vinyl)

This is a great record! The songs, lyrics and recording are all top notch. Really the only complaint I have is that the person who played drums on this was not credited (that being Lucas from Go It Alone) The drumming is really top notch on this. This is how hardcore drumming should sound! It’s too bad the band broke right after for typical straight edge band reasons hahah.

BY ALL MEANS - Blind Side (Green Records, repress 1994)

Some mid 90′s Italian hardcore here. Though this record has more in common with Sepultura. It’s fairly decent though, with quite political lyrics. The lyric sheet is in Italian with some not-so-accurate English translations. Orla here is trying to read them with little success.

BURIED ALIVE - Death Of Your Perfect World (Victory Records, 1999, Clear Vinyl)

Even though I don’t have nearly as much Buried Alive merch as my friend Ryan, I still have a bit. All I really need to be fair. This LP is pretty great from start to finish. I saw this band quite a few times including the show featured on this poster and shirt (you can see me in the crowd!) BROTHERHOOD - Words Run...As Thick As Blood (Crucial Response Records, 2nd press, black vinyl, 1989)

This is one great record! A compilation of their 7″ and comp tracks. Some awesome, timeless songs on here - The Deal, Til Death - just classic. There are some goofy lyrics on it but that just adds to the charm! Also pictured is me and a friend re-creating the cover shot in 2005 - got pretty close! Anyway if you haven’t heard this before you owe it to yourself to give it a listen!

BROKEN BONES - F.O.A.D. (Fallout Records, 1986)

Here’s another one from Broken Bones - half studio/half live set. I think I got this in Montreal in the mid 90′s. The studio stuff is not as good as the Bonecrusher LP but still decent. The live side shows this band could really pull off their songs in a live setting...very tight and played well!

BROKEN BONES - Bonecrusher (Combat Core, 1985)

Here’s another one I got from my friend Sam in exchange for Mcdonalds. Looks like he bought it at Second Coming Records in Boston! This record is actually quite good. Seeing Through My Eyes is one of the best examples of this style of punk....a really well written song! Decapitated is also a stand out track. It’s all fairly by the number UK punk/hardcore, just done right!

BRAID - Frame & Canvas (Polyvinyl Records, 1998)

I’ve actually sold a fair bit of Braid vinyl over the years, but I have kept this one. I would consider it their finest work. I booked a show for them in Halifax around the time this came out and it went really well. Anyway..great songs even though I still don’t really understand a good portion of the lyrics haha

BOY SETS FIRE - The Day The Sun Went Out (Initial Records, 1997)

I had not listened to this record in quite sometime, but it seems like I must have listened to this a fair bit back in the day as I still knew all the songs. A pretty great record for this genre. This is from when Daryl was in the band and used to be on IRC all the time. #sxe dalnet. My only complaint about this is having a CD booklet insted of a proper lyric sheet.

BOUNCING SOULS - The Good, The Bad, The Argyle (Chunksaah Records, 1994)

I just found out this is not actually a full length but a collection of EP’s. Who knew? Any pretty good songs on here...Neurotic and I Like Your Mom being some of the stand outs. I feel like I should listen to more Bouncing Souls, so I shall do just that!

BOSTON STRANGLER - Primitive (Fun With Smack Records, 2012)

This is one of the newer LP’s I own. Bought it at Armageddon Records in Boston. Not sure which pressing this is but probably not the first. Anyway this record is fucking great. Definitely has a SSD feel to it. Very straight forward Boston hardcore. 2 thumbs up!

BORN AGAINST - The Rebel Sound Of Shit And Failure (Vermiform Records, 1995)

Hello shits...here is a band I have not listened to in quite some time. This LP is a collection of songs from comps and 7″s. I didn’t expect to remember too many songs, but basically the whole first side of this was songs I knew quite well. Mary & Child is probably my fav song on here.

THE BONELESS ONES - Skate For The Devil (Boner Records, 1986)

Decent skate rock album. Maybe a bit too rocky at times, but overall decent enough. Stand out tracks are Give It To You and the title track. Would skate to!

BOLD - Speak Out (Revelation Records, 1988, First Press, Gatefold Sleeve, no writing on matrix)

Some people do not care for Bold. Those people are wrong. This album is great. Though I can see why some people aren’t into it musically as it can be a bit sloppy, but I think that just adds to the authenticity of it. And you can’t deny how great the artwork is! Inspiration for many a record cover no doubt! I bought this (plus a few more LP’s) off my high school friend Sam in exchange for McDonalds. I think that was a good deal. My favourite songs are Wise Up, Nailed To The X and Talk Is Cheap!

BLITZ - Blitzed - An All Out Attack (Link/Sydicate Records, Reissue)

I like Blitz a lot. This record is a collection of demos and live tracks. Some of the demo songs are pretty good but not as good as on Voice Of A Generation. I think there is one demo song on here that wasn’t released as well. The live tracks....hmmm...well they maybe could have recorded a better concert. They only made about half way through Warriors before stopping. Anyway...a decent collection of rarities but not essential (Voice Of A Generation is)

BL’AST - It’s In My Blood (SST Records, 1987)

Finally done with all the Black Flag so let’s move on to a totally different band that sounds nothing like Black Flag. Oh wait...

Here we have Bl’ast from Santa Cruz. They sound similar to another band but a bit of their own take on the sound. The title track is my favourite song on here. Pretty decent overall.
