hc: ib was an aspiring artist before the gallery. for ~1 year post-gallery, she fixated on guertena and his work, and she got quite good at mimicking his style

Headcannon that as well as her ‘How to make friends’ book, Mary has also read plenty of fairytale books (or have had the lady in red/blue/yellow/green painting read it to her) and in her daydreams, wishes for some boy to come and save her like a prince in her stories.

Hc: Ib has freckles.

hc: the other paintings cared for and entertained mary in any way they could before anyone arrived! the ladies in red/blue/green/yellow were like mothers to her, and the statues, dolls, and stickmen would play hide and go seek and tag with mary, the juggler painting would play catch with her, and so on !!

Hc: garry was an art student but after the whole gallery adventure he became terrified that his own art would come to life and decided to quit making art. He now works in a bakery.

hc: garry isn't on good terms with his parents, so he's often without a home. the gallery is like a safe-haven for him, and he loves looking at the art. hes memorized most of the paintings. (and although not ideal, he admits it was a nice place to die)

hc: ib and garry's (platonic) love is so strong, even if they don't make it out of the gallery together, they'll find eachother in another life!

hc: garry is neither straight nor cis, though he doesn't put much thought into it. he just does what feels right, wears what looks best, and loves who he fancies!

hc: when garry collapses in the forgotten portrait ending, he cannot move or speak, but he was still concious for awhile (sort of like a coma) he saw ib come take the lighter, and eat the candy. he worried for her safety,but it made him glad to see her enjoy the sweets // when she left the gallery he falls asleep

Garry’s fashion - a few headcanons

He loves to wear suspenders. He calls them a unique detail to make pants more personal. He loves those ones with crazy patterns, but he also likes the ones with only one colour.

He can walk in high heels but prefers not to because he finds them uncomfortable.

He makes a lot of his own clothes by himself. According to him, it’s both more fun and more personal than just buying finished clothes. He sometimes alternates clothes he finds at thrift stores.

Ib’s parents describe his fashion as strange but wonderful.

He sometimes paints his nails and he’s really good at it. He has painted Ib’s nails and Ib’s mothers nails several times before.

One of the reasons this blog goes on long hiatuses is because we don’t get enough submissions! Every little head canon is appreciated greatly, and is important to keep this blog running, because there’s only so many headcanons one can come up with before inspiration runs dry.

Post-gallery and the promise of reunion ending, Garry met Ib’s parents. They were a little cautious around him at first, but eventually (after a long long explanation and some persuasion from Ib), they warmed up to him. They even let him babysit Ib sometimes.
