people act like cities in texas aren't the most diverse and accepting parts of the state. like, i would sort of get it if he lived out in the middle of nowhere, but aren't places and like dallas and austin pretty criticised for being liberal or whatever? my grandmas live in texas, and they're lesbian, and haven't faced discrimination there since like '15. the UK is not doing too hot, and he'd know that if he researched it for 5 minutes instead of teabooing.

Hi there! I am following the Tyler situation and while rewatching one of the videos analyzing the situation where he defended Wilbur for being an abuser, I would like to say something about it.

I'm not British nor American, I live in a country with one of the highest rates of domestic abuse in the world, sadly it is a very common occurrence here, and even when it can end up with years of prison for the abuser, it still happens a lot, we see it happening on the news all the time, and as a woman, it's really scary and frustrating, just saying that to give some context to my point

When I first saw the videos of Tyler defending Wilbur, and adding it up with the context he was talking about, I couldn't help but think that Tyler's arguments to defend Wilbur are a huge part of the problem. Many women in my country hear something along of the same lines he said, and many times go back for their abuser and the cycle repeats itself, specially when he said that "people can change". I do believe people can change for the better, but it doesn't mean they can walk away with no accountability or consequences for their actions. Wilbur probably will be one of the many cases where the internet just forgets what he did and move on (I am not into that bubble, sorry) and Tyler's discourse about this whole situation was just bs, he's part of the problem and himself being a victim of abuse doesn't make him the judge to decide if Shelby went through abuse or not, he had said in the past he didn't like her, but invalidate her feelings and story and accuse her of making her audience her "attack dogs" is just nasty of him.

Ngl I wish more people would talk about Tyler's plagiarism. Like not only the man is an abuse apologist, misogynistic, racist but also he's stealing other people's designs from etsy!

Like those stain glass inspired raccoon, frog, and other animals he has for sale were taken from actual glass stain items, instead painted on a canvas and painted over the modge podge for the glossy look. It just comes off as lazy and disrespectful to me to continually call yourself an artist and steal other people's designs because you couldn't be bothered to come up with a design of your own. Plus you can't even argue it's "inspired" by those glass stain designs when everything from the lines to the colors is copied.

this is probably a nothingburger but i’m half greek raised in the west and i had a hyperfixation on greek mythology and i HATE the way i’ve seen tyler talk about greece and greek mythology, especially the myth of icarus. that retelling where icarus falling is framed as a #worthit moment and not as a lesson is so fucking stupid and reads more like fanfiction than an actual retelling. he wanted to move to greece and acknowledged it’s not much better over there for trans rights (which is true) but if he’s using being trans as a reason for people to send him money to escape transphobia then moving to greece should have never been part of the equation. he comes across as the type to have read percy jackson as a kid and assumes greece is this fantasyland and not a shithole in its own way

honestly uneducated on the topic because it used to be my hyperfixation in like elementary school, and i haven't touched it since, but looking back... honestly 9 year old me had a better grasp on greek mythology than he does at 27. i never read percy jackson, i was reading like actual reiterations of different stories. idk, the way he goes about it is so fandom-y, like how you would talk about hazbin hotel😭

admittedly, i haven't been as on topic as i used to be. when i saw that he was moving temporarily, i was in shock, but upon further thought... he's definitely lying.

to me, this seems like the buildup to another big dry begging compilation for his GFM. work visas are extremely difficult to obtain, my parents were university professors in the UK and had to fight like hell to get them. there's no way tyler got in on his macaroni string necklaces. if he is going, it's probably going to be much shorter, as there's virtually no way he actually received a work visa. everyone prepare for another shameless GFM begging saga!

I know when you post things it's there forever but wouldn't it be kinder to delete the pre transition/older photos of him that have nothing to do with the situation?

this page was just kind of an archive of some of his tumblr posts, which often included pictures of him pre-transition. i want to let it be known, that i do not support people attacking tyler on the basis of his identity. i think it's extremely irrelevant to the whole conversation.

however, i have seen multiple posts from tyler stating that he has no problem with showing himself pre transition, and is actually proud of who he was then. a lot of the pictures were also from when he simply hadn't physically transitioned yet, so i wouldn't really call them "pre-transition"

idk if this is really relevant, but i'm not cisgender myself, and it really is a "to each their own" kind of opinion. some people are less comfortable with their pre-transition selves, others are more laid-back about it. my intention is never malicious, it's simply for archival purposes. thanks for the question :)

i have nowhere else to rant about this because my irl mates would look at me like I grew a second head if I started talking about tyler fucking catastrophe, but something that bugs me so bad about that apology is that... no actual apology was made for the thing I think most people are angry at him over - the shubble/wilbur situation. The only thing he actually said is that he should've just left it alone and not gotten involved.

This man made a condescending ass video saying that the only thing Wilbur was really guilty of was being a bad boyfriend because the whole thing was just a communication issue (never mind the fact that Shubble stated multiple times that she told Wilbur it hurt, that she didn't like being hurt, and he continued the behaviour regardless), that Shubble speaking about her experience was dishonest, irresponsible and just "airing adult dirty laundry", and inferring that everyone upset and angry at Wilbur were just being used as internet attack dogs on Shubbles behalf. And he took back/retracted absolutely none of it. Fuck that and fuck him.

Just because you yourself have experienced domestic violence and assault, does not suddenly make you the goddamn arbiter of what does and does not constitute abuse.

if tyler had actually changed his ways, felt remorse for victim blaming, or just wanted to acknowledge the fact that even wilbur himself has admitted to his abuse of shelby, HE WOULD HAVE LET US KNOW. he had 10 minutes to give his perspective and not once did he apologise to shelby or anyone he actually did wrong by. it's just further proving he hasn't changed, he doesn't intend on educating himself, and feels no empathy towards the victim of his favourite internet personality.

Hey dude, I've watched a video yesterday on youtube about a thing Tyler related that I don't think I've seen on this page. Basically one of the commentary channels researched bead work and the style Tyler says is ''so unique to him and his craft'' and it seems that his chokers resemble the works of Ukrainian bead workers giving that the gems are probably just stained glass (look up seed beaded Ukrainian chokers). Personally I think those two styles are pretty close I leave it to further judgement. I just find it rather ironic giving he made a painting about the war in Ukraine. I hope I'm helpful with exposing this strange man.

oh yes i fully agree, his jewellery is just a bastardised amalgamation of several traditional native designs. this for sure includes Ukraine, but also many indigenous cultures 😭
