Lelantos turned on the spot, looking at the person sitting behind him in the coffee shop where he sat on his laptop. “I swear to god, if you so much as touch the back of my chair again–”
icarus twisted around in her seat as she heard the harsh voice behind her, her eyes boring daggers straight into his. she didn’t appreciate being threatened for no reason, especially in light of recent events. when she saw the familiar face of a fellow olympus agent, however, she relaxed. ‘ i’m going to let this whole threatening my life thing slide, agent, but only because we’ve all been pretty tense lately. maybe you should ease up on the violent threats directed toward potential civilians, though, yeah ? ’
an inaudible short breath was drawn in through her lips as their foreheads met, a tender touch that surprised her, to say the least. and in retrospective, her reaction was simply ABSURD—icarus and rhea had clicked from the very first day, had shared a bed countless of times, were sort of inseparable since—needless to say, the medic never felt uncomfortable around her; their level of intimacy was past the point of surprising each other, but somehow, icarus still managed to evoke such reactions out of her—which wasn’t the worst thing in the world. but her state of awe was quickly replaced with something else, because rhea could hardly focus on anything with her eyes up close and her warm breath against her lips. as a breathless chuckle made its way out and her gleaming sight dropped to skywalker, almost forgetting ( almost ) her dogs were even there in the first place for a short second, and stole other second to actually come back to icarus’ room. ❛ uh— ❜ she blinked a couple of times, frowning at the realization that icarus was taking her puppy away from her. it didn’t last long, though, as icarus holding a samoyed puppy prevented from a pout to linger on her lips, and instead, rhea mirrored her contagious grin. ❛ alright, dog whisperer, ❜ she said, straightening her back and getting on her feet, nearing the edge of the bed. ❛ we’re going to keep you around a little longer. you are their SAVIOR, after all. besides, if this— ❜ she gestured with her finger loosely, drawing an imaginary circle around the ridiculously adorable scene. ❛ is what i get from you winning over my puppies, ❜ she clicked her tongue, one side of her face scrunching simultaneously. ❛ a girl can’t complain. ❜ and with that, she hopped onto the bed, hating for the forty-fifth time that she didn’t have enough hands to pet her mascots at the same time. ❛ where’s padfoot? ❜ her question was casual, curious. her eyes scouted around the room for the husky pup, but… he wasn’t there? chewbie? check. spock? check. skywalker? check. her chest tightened as fear began to creep in at the slightest possibility of— ❛ where—how many did take with you, icarus? we have FOUR dogs—where… where’s padfoot? ❜
icarus lied on her side, propping herself up on her elbow so that she could easily see rhea and the dogs. her free hand combed through skywalker’s fur, although most of her attention was focused on rhea. she watched her get to her feet, a wide grin on her face as she spoke. she felt an overwhelming sense of pride in being able to do right by her, and she couldn’t help but BEAM over at her as she called icarus their s a v i o r. she’d smiled so much since rhea had arrived that her cheeks were starting to HURT. despite the tragedy that had taken place, she was truly happy to be there with her. she would never admit it out loud, but she had the biggest crush on the agent in front of her. she hadn’t realized that she was staring at her until she asked a question, one that icarus didn’t hear the first time, but she quickly snapped out of it as rhea’s tone changed from curiosity to subtle panic. ‘ huh ? ’ we have FOUR dogs. icarus began to panic, too, because she had only counted THREE. at the time of rescue, there had only been three dogs -- the aforementioned fourth was no where to be found. ‘ rhea -- there were only three dogs there when i got to them. i... i didn’t know there was another. fuck. --no, you know what, that doesn’t mean anything!! maybe someone else got to him first ? ’ she tried to sound as hopeful as she possibly could, not wanting rhea to get UPSET. she had failed, after all. she was foolish to think that she deserved any kind of HERO title. if the last pup didn’t turn up soon, she wouldn’t be able to face the woman again--not after letting her down like that.
Epione stood in front of a white wall covered with different paintings. Since arriving in London, she’d done little for herself, but when word got around that one of her favorite modern artists was opening a new gallery in downtown London, she made she was there opening night. As she stared at one of the pictures, Epione felt someone join her. “Isn’t it lovely?” She asked without turning to see who now accompanied her.
art was never exactly icarus’ forte, but it was an excuse to get away from the tense environment that loomed over headquarters ever since the incident. as she spotted a familiar face -- a fellow olympus agent -- she made her way over to look at the paintings that she was examining. ‘ i don’t really know much about art, ’ she admitted, following the agent’s eyes to the particular picture that she was admiring. ‘ but it looks... nice. ’
as the embrace was brought to an all-too-soon end and two of the puppies opted to chase each other’s tails, the samoyed puppy chose to curl on her lap and rhea’s hands happily complied to his silent request: to rub his belly. ❛ you know, i’m getting MIXED signals here—are you trying to say i look like SHIT? ‘cause your eyes, on the other hand, are asking to take off my clothes. you know, to check for any wounds. ❜ it was frankly no time for any kind of jokes, and had it not been for how revitalizing the company of her dogs were and how legitimately GRATEFUL she was to every existing GOD that icarus and everyone else she so dearly held close to her heart were alive, she wouldn’t have. besides, she wasn’t physically hurt— sure, she’d have a few bruises here and there, perhaps a little cut, but once upon a time, radhika bhat had to stitch herself up and others with whatever she could find in her surroundings. emotionally talking, though? odysseus betrayal was like a stab to her gut; removing the blade could possibly make her bleed to death. ❛ icarus, i’m fine. i promise, ❜ she then assured her softly, the pilot’s anger almost palpable. ❛ so stop thinking about what could’ve happened because it didn’t, thankfully, ❜ she continued before icarus’ arms were around her once more, one of rhea’s hand settling on the nape of her neck. ❛ you are here, i am here—we have plenty of time to plot our revenge and to make our own customized punching bags. but let’s focus on the fact that we’re okay, yeah? we’re okay, ❜ she let out, giving in to her touch and it felt as though the knot TIGHTENING around her rib cage finally loosened, taking a new, fresh gasp of air that allowed to breathe after hell broke loose.
icarus relaxed, little by little releasing her muscles from the tense state they had been in in light of her recent anger. she let out a heavy breath and nodded as rhea comforted her with words, her furious disposition falling away quickly. it was hard to stay mad when she knew that they were BOTH okay, and she knew she didn’t have to worry so much anymore. she pulled back once more, but this time she didn’t go nearly as far, stopping to rest her forehead gently against rhea’s. a wandering hand found it’s place at the nape of her neck, just as rhea’s hand was on hers. she sighed softly against the other woman’s lips, her eyes travelling down to the small, white ball of fluff in her lap and then back up. ‘ it’s really uncomfortable down here. ’ icarus whispered, only moments before pulling away and getting to her feet. ‘ skywalker, c’mere ! ’ she called for the pup, making kissy noises at him until he reluctantly climbed out of rhea’s warm lap. she scooped the little guy into her arms in one swift movement, holding him up close to her face and making him wave his paw back at rhea. ‘ look -- he’s saying ‘come cuddle with me on the soft bed, mommy’. i’m a dog whisperer, in case you didn’t know. ’ she grinned, climbing onto the bed with skywalker safely secure in her arms. the other two dogs followed shortly after, leaving it down to rhea to join them. spock and chewbacca settled down next to her, wherever they could find room, while skywalker curled up in her arms. he was the CUTEST one, she thought, and looking at him now--she never wanted to let him go. ‘ come on, rhea, your babies are waiting for you !! ’
leaving icarus in charge of PUPPY RESCUE MISSION had undoubtedly unloaded some weight off her shoulders because, what’s the point of lying? thanatos and rhea’s four puppies had been the top priority of the co-owner the second she heard the head agent of olympus would be unable to. they were puppies, for fuck’s sake—not only undeniably, naturally adorable, but did not know any better; they would have waggled their tail to anyone, even ICHOR agents. needless to say, the relief was ENORMOUS when icarus’ name did not make to hermes’ list of tragedies; the puppies were alive, and most importantly, so was her. when she found the time to take a little break from her medic duties, she headed straight toward icarus’ room, only sure it was hers when she heard the tiny paws against the surface. and, of course, when she was dragged in. despite the exhaustion that threatened to anchor down every bone in her body and had clearly taken over her features, the JOY radiating from her puppies was contagious, to say the least, and it was as though the sun itself was lighting up her face. ❛ hey, babies!!! i’m here, i’m here! ❜ with arms open wide, rhea plopped down on the floor, tiny dogs jumping up on her all at once. this was real energy boost. with a dimpled smile and wrinkles adorning the corner of her eyes, rhea’s hand wrapped around icarus’ wrist and pulled her down, both so could sit next to her and and to pull her in for a hug—one that the puppies eagerly wanted to be part of. ❛ thank you so much for getting them out of that literal hell. i’ll owe you forever, i swear. and—see? i told you we were going to make it. you have no idea how happy i am to see you in one piece with your heart still beating. ❜
icarus had a wide smile on her face as she watched rhea greet the puppies, her happiness and relief being incredibly contagious. the fact that she was the reason for the smile apparent on rhea’s face made her heart warm. a small noise of surprise escaped her lips as she was pulled downward into rhea’s embrace, and she wrapped her arms around her, half because she wanted to hug her back and half in order to catch her fall. she reluctantly released her, pulling away only far enough to check her over. ‘ i think i have somewhat of an idea, actually. it looks like you BARELY made it back in one piece, rhea. are you okay? are you hurt anywhere? ’ she asked, her brow furrowing with worry as her eyes wandered over her entire body, meticulously searching for any wounds. icarus had been previously engrossed with the puppies, but now that rhea was here, all she could think about was her. ‘ i swear to GOD if any of them hurt you... ’ she trailed off, shaking her head. she was angry about the whole situation, as were many of the agents, but she didn’t know what to DO with her anger. she couldn’t even bring herself to understand why her supposed ‘friends’ would do something like this. she was furious and confused and heartbroken, and thinking about rhea getting HURT because of ICHOR made all of these emotions surface at once. she threw her arms around rhea again, needing to hold onto something tangible.
@rheagent
icarus sat upon her brand new bed, in her brand new room -- the one she would now be calling home. her hair was strung up in a messy bun, still damp from the long shower that she had just taken. the three small pups she had been ordered to rescue were running around all over the place, but icarus had previously ‘puppy safed’ the room so that nothing would get accidentally broken. the little balls of fluff seemed so HAPPY, jumping around and playing together, as if nothing bad had happened in the past 24 hours. she envied their inability to fully comprehend the situation. her attention was torn away from the creatures as she heard a knock at the door, quickly sliding off the bed to answer it. she was relieved when she opened the door to rhea, although the relief was soon replaced with worry. she looked like she’d been through HELL -- which, in her defense, she had. she grabbed the girl’s arm, pulling her in through the smallest crack of the door she could manage to ensure that the puppies wouldn’t escape. the small four legged babies came to greet her immediately, jumping up on her legs with glee. ‘ i think they MISSED you, rhea. and they’re very happy that you’re okay. ’ she smiled and looked down for a moment while fidgeting with her hands. ‘ and they’re not the only ones. ’
picking up the pace, rhea began to trot as she grew impatient. no one would ever hurt a dog, right? it was kind of ridiculous, really, and not at all out of character for her to fear for their pups the most in times like these. her train of thought was torn apart as icarus’ fingers gripped at her arm, staring down to where strength was being applied to then climb up to her eyes. ❛ you are not going to argue with me about this now, are you? ❜ a chuckle freed itself from her lips, finding amusement in absurdity. ❛ you’re a PILOT, icarus. c’mon, this is your time to shine. your whole training has led you up to this point. and it is kind of your job to take them to safety, which is FAR, FAR AWAY from the headquarters. ❜
icarus’ brow furrowed, and she huffed out in frustration at how absolutely right she was. but she would be damned if she left without ensuring rhea’s safety. she was struggling to see how that even up for debate. ‘ you’re damn right, it is my job. to take all of you to safety, including you, rhea. why do i have to argue with you about this at all? just DO what i say, damn it. it’s not too much to ask, is it? i just-- i don’t want to LOSE you. you’re going to be on that plane, or i swear... i’ll never forgive you. ’
ensuring for the last time her gun was ready to go, rhea’s lips curled upwardly, mimicking the clear relief three simple words exuded. under other circumstances she would’ve wrapped her arms around her, but ‘wrong timing’ was a understatement. ❛ leave? ❜ her eyebrow kinked in confusion, her head shaking slowly. ❛ i can’t leave yet. you take as many agents as you can out of here and then— ❜ words were interrupted by an incoming text message, the name THANATOS lighting up the screen. ❛ —fuuuuuuuuck. okay, change of plans, follow me. ❜ speeding to the opposite side of, well, they should be going, rhea’s voice rose, hoping icarus’d be already behind her. ❛ my dogs—thanathos’ dogs—our dogs. i have to go get them, icarus. you gotta take them out of here. ❜
a clearly audible laugh escaped her lips when rhea told her that she had to save their dogs, a nearly ridiculous notion in the midst of the current crisis. but she didn’t dare argue with her -- not about saving the dogs, at least. she shook her head at the last order, though, grabbing her arm a little roughly. ‘ what do you mean? what about you? you’ve got to be either stupid or CRAZY if you think i’m going anywhere without you. i swear to god, rhea, i’m not taking off until you’ve boarded that plane. i’m not leaving here without you, alright? nothing you can say or do will convince me otherwise, so you might as well save your breath.’
❛ hey—you’re going to be fine, ❜ she assured to the younger agents stomping their way through the headquarters, far more calmly than most. ❛ this is one of the things you were TRAINED for. now, take a deep breath and go to the hangar or race track. pass on the word and, for fuck’s sake, do not spread panic, got it? now go. ❜ with a couple of first aid kits shoved inside her dangling bag, she veered toward the next nearby person. ❛ we need to get EVERYONE out of here. got a feeling shit’s gonna go down in less than fifty minutes. got your gun loaded? ❜
‘ rhea, thank god! ’ icarus exclaimed, relief clear in her voice as she came into view. she had been hoping to find her during her pursuit to warn as many people as she could, considering she was one of her closest friends here. ‘ uh -- my gun ? ’ she questioned a little nervously, feeling everywhere on her person to find it. she often misplaced it since she didn’t exactly use it often. when she finally found it in the small bag she was carrying, she checked if it was loaded. ‘ yep -- locked and loaded. i just hope i don’t have to use it. we’ve gotta get out of here, rhea. time is ticking. ’ she warned, a small bit of fear showing on her face. ‘ tick tock. ’ she added, recalling the eerie announcement given by the woman’s voice over the comm system.
“I’m not leaving until I’ve found as many people as I can. If I can round everyone up before then, so be it, but I’m not leaving early for my own safety if it sacrifices another. I can’t - I won’t lose anyone else! Not to these bastards.” It was the first time she had allowed herself to voice those words aloud, but they were true. She refused to lose anyone else to ICHOR - her heart couldn’t handle it.
‘ asteria, please – you’ve got to think logically here! we’re not going to be able to save everyone. i fucking hate it as much as you do, but some people want to stay. for some CRAZY reason, they want to stay and help weed out the double agents. honestly, i think we should all just go. something big is coming, i can feel it. so what’s the point of capturing some traitors, huh? no one is thinking about the bigger picture. if something happens and all of our agents go down, it’s not going to matter who the doubles are because we’ll all be DEAD. ’
Finley was conflicted - stay and fight, or run away and hide. She knew which one Arthur would have done, but then again, Arthur was most likely dead because of it. And as someone in transpo, she had the ability to do some actual good in saving people. So she did her own searching of the base, passing along a message of her own to anyone she came across. “Meet me in the hanger is 50 minutes. I’m following Chronos’ orders and getting us the hell out of here.”
‘ wait, WAIT -- ’ icarus picked up her pace so that she was walking next to asteria. her voice was frantic, words spilling out faster than usual. it may have been difficult to keep up, but she couldn’t help it. she was scared, but she wouldn’t dare let that stop her from saving as many people as she possibly could. these were her friends, her teammates. they didn’t deserve to go down like this. ‘ isn’t 50 minutes cutting it a little close? you heard the announcement--it said one hour. and it’s already been 10 minutes! we’ve got to make it 30 if we plan on getting out of here ALIVE. so start telling people 30 minutes, yeah? we can fit everyone if we take the plane, too. i’ll co-pilot. we have to grab as many people as we can ! ’
