Ami wasn't the one to push poor Zoe into the pool, but she immediately dives into the water to rescue the red-haired woman. -softshabonspray
This⊠was not how Zoe had wanted to die. There had been a time, not so long ago, when she had wanted nothing more than to die by her own hand. Now, however, her priorities had shifted; whenever she considered death, it was far, far into the future, and always contained a certain bluenette by her side. However, it seemed that the Fates had other plans. It might have seemed odd to some, that she had never learned to swim, but really, when would she have learned? Zoe had gown up in a brothel, knowing the streets and underworld of Paris like the back of her hand. Then her parents had finally âsealed the deal,â so to speak, when she was fourteen and moved their so-called âfamilyâ to Tokyo. After a lonely year of isolation that she pretended like didnât affect her, Beryl had found her.
The rest had been history, giving herself once again to the misguided woman and the rot in her soul. A year later, and Zoe had been back at square one â alone but pretending like she werenât lonely. Middle school had finished quickly, and high school had been just as isolating, even if everything that happened with the Senshi had certainly kept life interesting. Fighting against her assigned gender had been stubborn rebellion at first, and then become a realization about who she was and who she was meant to be. It had given the Frenchwoman some measure of hope that things might someday get better, be easier. Then, college had happened, and the redhead had met her all over again. She had never truly âlostâ her memories of the Dark Kingdom.
Her nightmares had always been different so it had never bothered her, not even the fact that she had died more than once. The memories of the Golden Kingdom, however, had slowly trickled back over the years. Zoe still didnât have a complete picture of what Ăine, called the âShe-Wolfâ of the Northern Kingdom, had been like, but she remembered enough to know that she was now almost an inversion of what Ăine had been. Fate had never been what one might call kind to her, the redhead had come to realize, and this seemed to be no different. And yet, she didnât end up dying. Her beautiful lover was the one to dive in to save her, and she found herself loving her even more. Ami was wonderful, and she really didnât deserve her, but adrenaline and having almost died made Zoe reckless.
So, the Frenchwoman blurted a thing sheâd been thinking for some time now. Even if she happened to be shirtless by then and her stupid hair was everywhere. Even if now was literally the worst time to be asking this. Actually, never might be a better description, since the youngest Shitennouâs self-esteem was still shit, and they were both still in college, but damnit if her mouth and heart donât conspire to kick her into gear. Apparently, the muscle that kept her alive and her vocal chords thought they knew better than her second-guessing, oft-paranoid brain. Maybe they did, and maybe they didnât, but it was too late to take anything back now.
