Just like when getting Herbalist glyphs for Orrax farming as soon as that snake came out, yet again, smart decisions were made
Ages ago I got a request for Isgarren and his dearly beloved Vass and ended up not finishing it despite starting it at the time. Decided to just do a tiny bit of refinement and post it as semi-painted still kind of sketchy thing.
precious man and his precious snake-wife
"Tyria's salvation is as much yours as it is mine"
Trahearne rising from the dead.
Almorra manifesting herself back to life.
Logan staring directly into the camera.
Mabon seething from the Realm of Torment (or Mursaat heaven idk).
Snaff wondering what the fuck is going on.
Aurene returning from the Mists.
Soo-Won making direct eye contact.
Forgall, Sieran and Tybalt playing cards together in the afterlife:
Blish wondering why he let Kralk eat him.
Mai-Trin wondering what was the fucking point.
Vlast screaming in endless suffering from Dragon Heaven.
Glint also screaming from Dragon Heaven.
Sunspears wondering why they bothered.
Sadizi trapped in an underground cave Forever:
Taimi just going back to bed, screw this.
Braham still nursing the trauma over the past decade.
Caithe laying face-down on the ground.
The Exalted. Just the Exalted.
Rytlock and Crecia ctrl+z'ing their own kid:
Isgarren losing pretty much everyone he ever loves.
Everyone in the Astral Ward:
Demmi "I guess I should never have bothered trying to kill my dad and stop a cult" Beetlestone
Killeen and Kranxx like 'maybe we shouldn't have gone to Ascalon'
The list goes on.
off the cuff thoughts I wrote down after finishing Divitium Nava:
the entire convo about how the world is "fundamentally" broken basically cements Isgarren as the ultimate idealist who, despite seeing the same things, fought for an imperfect Tyria and still tries to do the greater good while trusting in Tyrians to do the same. Isgarren and Vloxx share hubris as their flaw, but they use the same power in completely opposite ways
puts into perspective WHY the Seers hoarded knowledge and protected the Ascension ritual, and why Sidony went to extremes to punish Isgarren (but leaving a loophole because Sidony had the intellectual foresight to identify that there was a chance Isgarren sharing with "lesser" races and forming friendships could be what lets Isgarren outlive all the other Seers)
the downfall of the Seers is less the protection of Ancora and the Ascension ritual and more how the rest of their society is also very elitist and isolationist
I have finished the story already after writing these down but I feel that the rest of it didn't change any of these thoughts.
I think I have never philosophically disagreed with a GW2 villain more than Vloxx. I don't care for his character, but I do see what they are doing with him. Kuda was excellent. I also enjoyed the trials.
Last thing is I am staring at "Project 5388" like "do NOT bring Sebb back"
Isgarren has always seemed very focused on protecting Tyria in its natural state. He does not like outside forces messing with his home (the Six, Kryptis, Mursaat etc), and he does not like messing with what are natural elements of the world either (I'm pretty sure he clocked what the Elder Dragons and their purpose was very early in his ventures and came to the conclusion that they 'had to stay' basically bc the alternative was. Yeah.)
Isgarren's 'focus on the outside' worldview was critiqued a lot by the player, by just about everyone, but it feels more and more understandable the further we go.
Isgarren's big picture was that he wanted to protect Tyria from dangers that were not native or natural to it, and then we have Vloxx, who wants to protect Tyria by messing with the natural foundations of what Tyria even is.
GW2's music to me feels so understated bc it has to account for the amount of Other auditory stuff going on at the same time but gods does it mean i usually end up appreciating it more when i hear it on the OST/with everything else muted and go 'wow, this was even better than I remembered!'
muted everything else to get myself a recording of the new meta music and bc of the dialogue/sfx i didn't realise there were multiple phases to it. midphase is the one that plays in my head most when i think abt this meta but that last phase gutpunched me and im sad it was for SUCH A short segment of the fight, that is chill-worthy.
i do love VoE for so many reasons...
but i still miss SotO lol
Tempted to go hunting around maps to find ppls nice looking commanders to draw. Would be nice to just, draw completely random people
doodle of a wonderful new friend I adore. i will help you make many new friends Q Q
this is the canonical hellish slow-burn nightmare of actual commgarren
handed in my tokens for the day. wasn't... expecting this.
i shed some tears irl, i am not ashamed to admit
Was prompted by loved ones to make a 'progress' pic of how Trahearne's come along since I started drawing him in 2023. Some things come and go, but undeniably, he's always been 'my' Trahearne, and honestly, that's what I want the most.
I reached a comfortable place with him now, and I look forward to keep drawing my favourite plant husband for hopefully many more years.
Frustrated at wanting to make fanart of Gardesano and co but since Seers are pretty much visually identical I have to think up ways to make them stand out from each other. I want to draw Gardesano with their adorable little construct children.
I think my only criticism of Shackles of the Ancients is that the Avatars and the Creatures sections maybe should have been swapped.
Creatures > Avatars > Creatures > Avatars
I do get the purpose of the Creatures in regards to the Everything Going On regarding the meta, but gameplay/lore wise it'd have felt more OOMPH to have the last 3 ferretories be the last thing you destroy to end the AllSeer.
That said, I really do love SotA. Music gives me chills, the entire theme of it gives me chills, and I hope that Gardesano and co can find peace. We never even met them but I have developed such a soft spot for these guys.
2026 goal for self: at the very least get ch8 of wildflowers done you absolute strawberry
If I ever get that new infusion it's going smack-dab on my Isgarren alt--
