Well done to Linda Nosková on her Wimbledon win! She did well to regroup after the rough end to the second set for her.. Very well deserved!
Well done to Karolína as well on the final. Great effort to force the decider and make it a match. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to win the title. Hopefully she'll get a third chance to win a slam too.
So much for "With 2 Czechs in the final, the match won't be stressful", lol.
Well done, Karolína, for taking it to the decider. At 5-2 in the second I was like "Nope, I refuse to believe this is the final game.." but then when Linda had the 5th championship point in the next game, I was certain the match was over.. 😅 Thankfully Kája held her nerve.

The loss hurts twice as much because it may have been Grigor's last Wimbledon (hopefully not 🤞) and he was so close to closing it out in 4 sets.. 😔
But at least, unlike last year, he got to leave the court with a smile on his face, which is the most important. But it definitely has to hurt..

I'm almost done reading Project Hail Mary (I used the free trial Audible credit for it and I'm reading the e-book along with it) and I wanted to watch the movie after..
But apparently it's STILL not streaming anywhere (at least not in my country) and it's only available for purchase on Prime Video.
So far, the only opinions I've seen online were "The book is amazing! I didn't like the movie, though."
So I have to ask the wise users of Tumblr to help me decide, lol. I'm not even gonna include 'The movie was better' option, because there's simply no way, lol.

Ok, results time... Aaand really!? Not a single voter/book reader who did not like the movie!? Tumblr is much kinder than Facebook apparently, lol.
Damn, perhaps I should have put ".. and the movie was ok but not great" option, because that's how I'd "rate" it after watching it. While there were still some hilarious and wholesome moments, it just felt so rushed and dumbed down, sorry! 🫣 And don't even get me started on that stupid "Xenon's a gas!" line (as if gases don't form solid compounds). 🤦🏻♀️ But probably the most 'disappointing' thing about it for me was that Eridians don't speak in musical notes in the movie, which I've really gotten used to from the audiobook.
Now I wonder if I would have enjoyed the movie more if I had not read the book. I'll try watching it again sometime later..

I was wondering the whole time I was reading the book how exactly could the movie be much different since the story is pretty straightforward.. But if they actually changed Grace, yeah, that would do it.

Sabalenka was about to serve for the match at 5:4 when I turned it off to go grocery shopping, so I could fully focus on the men's QF matches.. I come back and Shnaider is up 4:0 in the third.. And actually won it 6:0. Guess I should have turned it off sooner, lol.

I think that sums the match up perfectly. I was amazed by how much both, Matteo and Frances were able to still squeeze out of themselves in the final set. After having played long matches in the previous rounds as well.
The level of tennis was incredible and it was so worth staying up watching past 1 am. Thank you to both players and sorry one had to lose!
Why are there suddenly so many matches running past (or close to) midnight in Paris!? And why is Frances involved in another one of those? Lol.
Oh well, as we all know from the Aussie Open and US Open: Sleep is for the weak!
