Forced Proximity Dialogue Prompts
Haven't done one of these in a while.
"Come on, this isn't funny." "I'm not joking. It's locked."
"Is that the only tent we have?"
"There's only one bed." "Well, darlin', I'm not sleeping on the floor, so I guess we'll have to share."
"I'm your bodyguard. It's in the job description to protect you at all times." "Well, could you at least 'protect' me from over there?"
"You have got to be kidding me. I have to share a room with you."
"What do you mean there's only one sleeping bag? You had one job."
"Quit following me!" "I was hired to follow you, princess, better get used to it."
"What the hell is that noise?" "Uh, yeah, slight problem. We're out of gas."
"Where are you going? We're in the middle of nowhere!" "Yeah! And whose fault is that?"
"Look around, love. In case you hadn't noticed we're snowed in. So unless you plan to freeze to death, we'll have to find a way to keep each other warm."
"I may be stuck with you, but I don't have to like it."
"Is now a bad time to tell you I'm claustrophobic?"
"Your heart's racing. Now, I know being pressed up against me is exhilerating and all, but I'm trying to concentrate on picking this lock."
"What are you? Afraid?"
"Uh. Slight problem. We're trapped."
"Well, which way, smartass?" "Uh. We might be lost."
Hi! I know you haven't post anything for like two months, so this is just me I don't know, sending you a message just in case haha
I just watched Beastly for the first time just right now, I've been wanting to do it since it came out, but never got around to do it. I'm a HUGE fan of all these teen fantasy stuff that came out in 2010's, I was a teenager back then so I'm obsessed with it. Uhm...I just wanted to tell you I think it's so cool someone is still posting things about it (be it the movie or the book, which btw I think I'll be reading? I'm not sure yet), which I search for it I literally expected all the posts, if I even found any, to be from early 2010's, but yours are pretty recent and I looooove that!
Hi! Thank you for reaching out! Yes absolutely read the book “Beastly” it’s so good! I randomly thought of the movie months ago and rewatched and realized I had never read the novel. They made so many changes that I really didn’t appreciate, Kyle is a real beast in the books, the curse lasts two years instead of one, and Lindy is red head with crooked teeth. Don’t know if you read fan fiction but there is still a pretty active fandom over on A03 including yours truly!

Did I start ANOTHER Beastly fanfic?
Yes, yes I did.
Kyle Kingsbury/Adrian King canon details (Beastly, 2007)
Was raised predominantly by nannies, one is mentioned but not by name
his dad owns a house in upstate New York, where they spent a few winters when Kyle was a kid, but stopped going after Rob became too career obsessed
His mother left him and his father when he was 11 years old, moved to Miami, Florida, and remarried a plastic surgeon, so Kyle has a step-father
Didn’t have a Christmas tree for five years after his mom left
Was on two sports teams at Tuttle School, hockey, and the other isn’t confirmed but he mentions running the track a handful of times and considering the running through the streets of New York at the end, it can be assumed he was on the track team
His best friend was Trey Parker up until he was 15 (when he was cursed) and he states they’ve been friends for ten years, meaning that they met in kindergarten and had been friends since
Went trick or treating with Trey when they were 8 years old and BOTH dressed up as Spider-Man, and egged a neighbors door
Attended a dance class with Trey at a country club when they were 11
Attended summer camp? He says he had never made anything before he built the greenhouse, not even a birdhouse at camp, so I’m taking that as canon
He was praised for his reading by teachers, and according to Lindy’s Diary is really good at math, he also took Spanish at Tuttle
Really likes baseball, huge Yankees fan
Once went to the zoo and felt deep pity for tiger being trapped in its cage
Favorite movie was Inglourious Basterds, and had seen The Princess Bride at some point, also Forrest Gump and Carrie. And Pride and Prejudice with Sloane
Watched It’s a Wonderful Life when he was 12
Has had at least six girls have crushes on or be interested in him; Lindy Owens, Sloane Hagen, Wimberly Sawyer, Bronwen Kreps, and two unnamed girls who gave him the cold shoulder after thinking he would ask them to the dance
Was cursed at 12 A.M. on Saturday, May 6, which according to the calendar would have occurred in 2006! Also occurred in 2017 and 2023!
Owned both an XBox and a Wii
Is a very good figure skater, probably from playing hockey
Enjoys sci-fi and Gothic novels
Was placed into AP English his senior year
Enjoys eating Cheetos and milk together???
And ofc then I had to draw Lindy’s loser boyfriend
I still haven’t figured out how to draw blond fur, but I Will. That is a threat
The concept of Adrian wearing his hair is up is inspired omfg
Beastly fanart in 2025 2026? It’s more likely than you think
Didn’t quite manage to nail down how I picture her, but it’s an improvement from the last time I drew Lindy so I’ll take it
HELLO??? So good! 😊
i will never be over the fact that in the beastly book it was actually a good and interesting read and a cool take on a modern interpretation of the fairy tale where he actually turned into a monster but when they got the movie it was just like what if………he turned really goth
somehow, in NYC, having a bunch of piercings made him the most terrifying thing in the whole city
Anybody remember that book “Beastly” with Adrian, the beautiful son of a new anchor turned into a beast because he was an awful teenager? Remember how good the book was? Remember how absolutely terrible the movie was????
I reread the book last year and remember how much I love it, and also how much I sincerely detest the movie adaption because they changed EVERYTHING. Adrian is now far older (he was, like, 14 in the beginning of the book and 16 by the end), Linda was played by beautiful Vanessa Hudgeons and literally looks nothing like how Lindy was described in the book (she was supposed to have a gap between her teeth and had red hair and freckles, she wasn’t meant to be totally beautiful), Adrian was supposed to look like a beast ok? (not bald and scarred up and covered in Harry Potter tattoos and still looking conventionally attractive), they completely changed the ending (instead of Adrian literally running through the city and saving Lindy from a rapist in the shitty part of town, they had him running to prevent her from what, leaving the country? the fuck?) Like, I will never forgive the people who thought it would be a good idea to completely fuck up such a great book by changing pretty much everything important about it to appeal to a completely different audience. People who saw the movie saw a very different story compared to the book. And the movie did terribly because of that. Like, how many people actually own a copy of that movie? Other than people who have never read the book and went to see the movie just because Alex Pettyfer was in it and he’s attractive, even under all that bald cap and scarring make up?
Seriously, does anybody remember this? I think it was around the time that “Twilight” was insanely popular. (Remember THOSE dark times?)
books have to be heavy because the whole world’s inside them. (moodboards for my favorite classics books)
BEASTLY (Alex Flinn)
I love you, I thought. But I didn’t say it. It was not that I feared she would laugh in my face. She was far too kind for that. My fear was a greater one - that she won’t say it back.
and I oop-
I was thinking of reading Beastly by Alex Flinn since I'm trying to get rid of my oldest tbr (it's been 10 years already?) But then i thought, what if i read the original Beauty and the Beast by Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve first? Theeen i read the retelling? I'm probably going to be disappointed, but i'd get 2 books read this month, which is better than none lmao
BEASTLY (2011) - Directed by Daniel Barnz
God I need this movie remade to be book accurate
BEASTLY by Alex Flinn
Amybeth McNulty as Linda “Lindy” Owens
“People make such a big deal about looks, but after a while, when you know someone, you don’t even notice anymore, do you? It’s just the way they look.”
Sam McCarthy as Kyle Kingsbury/Adrian King
“I love you, I thought. But I didn’t say it. It was not that I feared she would laugh in my face. She was far too kind for that. My fear was a greater one—that she wouldn’t say it back.”
Adam Brody as Will Fratalli
“I studied hard so that I can work, so I wouldn’t have to be supported by someone else. I can’t give that up.”
Quintessa Swindell as Kendra Hilferty
“I don’t go to school at all or live here or anywhere. I am old as the ages and young as the dawn. Otherworldly beings cannot be bribed.”
Two kids in one place bc SOMEBODY had to make movie/book-crossover fanart
Aka movie!Kyle realizes his life could’ve been a lot worse
"Poster" created for my English 12 class after reading Beastly by Alex Flinn independenly.
