Okay, can I just give a brutally hot take? I'm probably going to piss some people off, but I'm bold enough to say it.

I actually don't think that Taranza has anymore of a solidified redemption than Susie does.

There's been so much controversy over whether or not Susie has redeemed herself, but a lot of people just seemingly believe that Taranza is totally undoubtedly redeemed and is unambiguously a good person after his debut. But does he really deserve that much credit?

They're both on the same boat of where they help Kirby by giving him things to fight Sectonia and Star Dream with, and then aren't given explicit redemption arcs after that.

You could very well say that Susie's action of giving Kirby an Invader Armor was done out of pragmatism rather than genuine goodwill because Star Dream was going to kill everyone, but honestly, I think the same could be said about Taranza throwing that Miracle Fruit to Kirby. It is very possible he only did that because he knew how dire things were getting and that Sectonia was going to kill everyone. Not sure how that's any less pragmatic than Susie giving Kirby the armor.

And when the final bosses get defeated... okay, sure, there's sort of a difference. Susie seemingly just leaves Popstar at the end while Taranza actually sticks around for a bit, but he's not really doing anything other than just help carry King Dedede in the air, and they still don't give Taranza any sort of post-Triple Deluxe arc that further solidifies redemption for him. So I'd say that's not much better than Susie leaving Popstar.

It's also worth pointing out that both Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot have been absolutely botched in terms of their storytelling. Like, it says something that they've had to make Miiverse posts for both games. With this considered, the ending cutscenes of both games could probably be somewhat put into question altogether anyways.

Like I said, neither Taranza or Susie have been given explicit redemption arcs after their games. Magolor has more of one in the form of his epilogue in RTDL DX than either of them do. (And honestly, I think even Magolor's redemption has some grey area to it. Like, is he only redeeming himself because he just doesn't want Kirby to kick his ass again? But I digress, this post isn't about him)

And then let's take a look at their Star Allies descriptions...

Susie's English SA description of her still mechanizing planets and people is blatantly mistranslated bullshit (and I'm pretty sure Star Dream was needed for mechanizing planets in the first place, so how is it even possible after Star Dream blew up?) and so let's look at her Japanese SA description. It says that she wants to help families and bring harmony and happiness, but it also says she wants to "exterminate savages" which, not gonna lie, that is indeed pretty sketchy.

But I think it can genuinely be reasoned that this sketchy line is directed at the Jamba Cult because they're threatening the harmony and happiness talked about and they're who you're fighting as Susie, and it can be reasonably interpreted that Susie is trying to improve herself but still has bad practices that she needs to unlearn. Which, in my opinion, that's okay. She's not perfect and I don't need her to be.

Now let's look at Taranza's Star Allies description. It appears that he wants to bring Sectonia back to life, basically necromancy. I feel like people have been glossing over the potential moral dubiousness of this, especially when considering how in-universe people could see it as him wanting to bring a dictator back to life. He's likely well-intentioned with this, but I don't think it's certain whether he strictly wants spider Joronia back or if he'd be fine with her coming back as the evil tyrannical wasp she became. He does have that Queen's Phantom attack, after all.

Basically what I'm getting at is that Susie and Taranza both still have issues, it's plausible to call them redeemed but we don't actually know just how redeemed they are, because neither of them have been given arcs after their debut games. So in my opinion it's not really fair to treat them super differently in terms of redemption.

I can definitely buy that Taranza is overall the better person of the two, but I think they're a lot closer to each other on the redemption/morality scale than many people seem to think.

My characterization of Susie for post-KPR

This will all be established in my new upcoming fic that I'll start working on very soon.

This bitch is a total girlfailure. She touts herself as being top shit and the coolest person ever, but really that just makes her quite cringefail and pathetic.

She's very conceited and full of herself. She brags about how cute and beautiful she is, sometimes not shutting up about it, and she eats it up when someone actually goes and compliment her as such. And as an example to demonstrate her being full of herself, she'll build a snowman that looks exactly like herself during the winter.

When it comes to participating in games and competitions with others in the Kirby cast, Susie is both a sore winner AND a sore loser. She'll gloat about her victory when she wins, and get really pissy and mad when she loses.

She'll often get way ahead of herself during projects to the point she loses her mind when things don't go according to plan.

She is also frequently pedantic when she talks, and doesn't hesitate to make sarcastic remarks during arguments with others.

Susie puts on a cutesy, silly, giggly persona in public. This is partially genuine of her nature as she really does love cute things and she's immature for her age because she didn't grow up properly, but one could also say that it may very well be a coping mechanism of sorts because she doesn't bother talking about her trauma to most people and often just represses it.

Most people don't know that Susie was stranded in Another Dimension for a long time and that Max Profitt Haltmann was her father, because she doesn't talk about it to most. In fact, only a very select few know these things. Them being Kirby, Taranza and Magolor, because those are the first three friendships that Susie makes, and there's a moment where Kirby accidentally catches her in a vulnerable position that forces her to reluctantly open up to him.

Opening up to Taranza and Magolor was a bit more willing in comparison when she learns they have trauma that is similar to hers. And to keep her past private, she begs them and Kirby to not tell anyone else about the things she's opened up to them about.

Although far later on she opens up to the Mage Sisters, but that's besides the point.

In public, Susie is willing to act emotional about stuff that has nothing to do with her past trauma. Like for example she'll act passionate and over-the-moon about a project she successfully accomplished right as she planned it. And although it's rather hard to make her cry, there's a moment where she has a bit of a meltdown when she accidentally drops an ice cream cone she was holding. LOL for an adult like her.

And like I said, she's immature for her age because of her messed up childhood. She tries to make herself SEEM mature, especially when she regains a professional attitude when she rebuilds the Haltmann Works Company, but truthfully she acts childish to an extent that's quite pathetic for a grown woman like her.

Her silliness and love for cute things is tied to her lack of emotional maturity, as she didn't get the chance to have her taste in aesthetic develop past a child's. And although she tries make herself seem mature, some people can see through it and detect her immatureness.

Susie eventually starts embracing organic life again after getting her first hug since the Another Dimension accident (by Kirby). The thing is, because she hadn't been cared about and was totally deprived of affection for so long, that's partly what made her callous and cruel enough to go along with the HWC's mechanization project when she returned to her senile father, because she basically lost her sense of humanity by that point. But this slowly comes back when she starts forming bonds after not doing so for a very long time. This is what makes her eventually realize how bad it was to be mechanizing people.

But even as this development unfolds, she still remains a generally self-centered person (although this doesn't mean she's entirely uncaring of others, she does care about her friends) and still isn't immune to being cold in tense situations. In fact, there's a "cute but scarily violent" nature in Susie, and this will be especially established during the Star Allies adventure when she gets a little too much into enjoying beating up enemies while acting cute and silly about it.

And even though she attempts to atone for her sins by bringing back the HWC with reformed goals, there's still absolutely a freaky mad scientist trait in her, only just somewhat toned down from before. She no longer mechanizes planets and people, but she's still not above cloning things, and she does experimentation with toys and other inanimate objects that often gets to be Five Nights at Freddy's levels of freaky and unnerving. Enough to make a good chunk of the Kirby cast freak out when they see it.

She also sells technology to other planets as the way for them to get HWC stuff if they want it. Yes, I literally did say sell. The capitalism still runs strong in her. Although she makes an exception with Planet Popstar because she knows they don't run on currency, and she's developed a soft spot for them compared to other planets because they were forgiving and merciful enough to let her live alongside them for a while after being stranded until she moves out to bring back the HWC.

I'd say that sums it up for my Susie in essence. She's a part of the "redeemed villains" club, although I wouldn't say that she's a good person now, still having too many flaws to truly count as that. Morally grey is more like it. Oh, and if you were curious, the "Sparkling Pupupu" manga's depiction of Susie is used as a loose inspiration for how cute and silly my Susie is. In my opinion, silly Susie is underdone.

I have a new Kirby fanfic in the plans now!

It's been a long while since I last did a Kirby fic. I recently decided that I want to write one again, and now there's a plan for what it'll be about.

And it will be much longer than any other fic I've ever done before this.

Basically, it will be a story that I'll create about what Susie does after the events of Planet Robobot.

Click on the tag below if you're curious to see some basic details on it before I start uploading chapters of the fic on AO3. I don't mind giving out some details beforehand, so feel free to take a sneak peek.

The story will begin with an arc of her living in Planet Popstar for a time. After Kirby destroys Star Dream, Susie tries to leave Popstar, but her mech loses battery and starts breaking down before she can. Her mech comes crashing down back to Popstar, and although Susie saves herself from getting hurt from the mech's crash landing by jumping out and deploying a parachute to land safely, she ends up stranded on Popstar.

But luckily for her, she finds out that the people of Popstar are merciful and generous enough to not hunt her down for everything she did. Although it's a little complicated. When they all learn about Susie's presence, there's varying opinions. There's a good chunk of people that don't like her because of her actions, but overall most people in Popstar forgive her, and allow her to stay around.

At first, she stays holed up in a vacant house that she claims for herself, initially trying to keep to herself as much as possible. But then she starts making friends with Kirby and a handful of others in the cast, and eventually starts adapting to Popstar's lifestyle.

For a time, Susie thinks that she'll just live out the rest of her life in Popstar after adapting to their lifestyle. However, that actually doesn't become the case. She lives in Popstar for about a year and a half, and then starts moving out and settling on a barren remote planet to where she'll bring back the Haltmann Works Company.

She first gets the idea of bringing back the company after a particular conversation she has with somebody. As Magolor (one of the friends that Susie makes) talks about how he plans to build an amusement park, he tells her that he's interested in seeing her do big things with technology again. That's what kickstarts her newly found ambitions.

But no worries, she doesn't go back to her old ways when she brings back the company. With everything that Susie learns during her time of living in Popstar, the company will have new and morally better objectives. Although I'll say that it's not morally perfect, but it's definitely not the wicked evil that it was once was. An improvement for sure.

As for where she'll live as she brings back the company - like I said, she'll settle on a remote planet that previously had no life on it to where she was totally free to do whatever she wants with it. After claiming this planet her home, she then creates hordes of Haltworker robots to help her industrialize and transform the planet to her liking. It becomes a planet that's mechanized by choice.

Susie names the planet "Mecha Star", as it's the most technologically advanced planet in Gamble Galaxy. She takes pride in this.

It'll basically be like this depiction, from one of the "It's Kirby Time!" books.

This will be where Susie lives from this point forward, and it'll be the headquarters of the new-and-improved Haltmann Works Company. In a way, it'll almost be like a stationary Access Ark that doesn't attempt to force itself onto other planets. Although the company will still be involved in intergalactic activity, but in the form of selling technology to planets that may be interested in it.

Susie doesn't break off contact with the friends she made after she moves out of Popstar. Many of them, including Kirby, come visit Mecha Star to see her from time to time, and she designates Popstar as her primary vacation spot.

The accidentally-sentient robot OC that I talked about here will also make an appearance, but not until very late in the fic. Until then, Taranza and Magolor are her closest friends for a long time.

Consider this: Susie most likely has not been hugged for a very long time.

Spending likely many years in Another Dimension, I feel like there's no way she could have gotten hugs from anyone or anything there. Lmao I can't imagine she would have hugged Sphere Doomers. And even when she escapes Another Dimension and sees Max Haltmann again, I don't imagine he would've allowed her to hug him. On top of not remembering her being his daughter, he just seems way too emotionally distant to allow that sort of affection.

She has not cared or been cared about by anyone for a long time. Maybe that's at least part of what made her become so cold and callous.

And so, let's say that at some point after Planet Robobot's events end, Kirby manages to become a friend for Susie. And because he is famous for being so pure-hearted, at some point he gives Susie a hug.

What do you think she'd do in response to getting this hug after not getting one for so long? In my opinion, she'd initially be confused, but then start feeling things that she hadn't felt in a long time, and eventually have a full-on mental breakdown with tears, because this hug could make her start finally feeling cared about again.

For the particular question of "Which Kirby character is the most deserving of a hug?" I think Taranza would be a very common answer, and I mean, there's definitely valid arguments for him. But Susie... I think she absolutely deserves to be considered as another answer for that question too.

A question that I'm curious to hear people's thoughts on.

What if a future Kirby game had a dinosaur theme to it, and had dinosaur characters? (whether they're the villain faction of said game, or both villains and good guys that need Kirby's help)

I ask this question because dinosaurs can be cool as frick. And I wonder what interesting route could be taken with the theme of dinosaurs in a future Kirby game.

I know that dinosaurs have existed in Kirby games before, in Epic Yarn and also in Mass Attack where that was that icy T-rex, but obviously we've also had robots exist in the series before Planet Robobot did an entire theme out of robots. What I'm suggesting is a game having a whole theme out of dinosaurs in a similar manner.

I'm also going to give a shout out to the character Ice Dragon (my namesake lol), that big blue chubby guy that looks like the substitute decoy from Pokemon. He looks very much like a dinosaur, he could appear in a hypothetical dinosaur Kirby game, whether it be himself or variants.

Idea: Susie becomes best friends with a robot that she makes

This will be a thing in my new incoming major Kirby AU verse.

Originally, I was going to have Susie's closest companions be two siblings that are the same species as her that she finds somewhere and bonds with, but now I'm scrapping that entirely in favor of this new idea that I consider to be much more unique and interesting.

Putting a spoiler tag because this post got pretty long as I typed it. Click down below if you're curious to see how she finds herself becoming best friends with a robot she makes in my new incoming verse.

At some point after the events of Star Allies, when Susie returns to her newly rebuilt Haltmann Works Company that's still a work-in-progress, she decides to build a robot from scratch. Her plan with it is to make it AI-programmed and act as a convenient assistant that helps her work on the company. She also plans for it to have talking capabilities to an extent, to see how far her robot-making skills have developed.

She labels it as Model #H-5750, and names it Delta. It's more humanoid in shape than an Invader Armor, and is the same height as one.

After Susie deems her work on Delta to be finished and begins testing it, something happens that doesn't go according to plan. Somehow, Delta becomes sentient. It suddenly grows a conscience, with a mind similar to a person's. And it was supposed to only be able to say a handful of phrases, but its sentience causes its talking abilities to become unlimited, so it can say whatever it wants.

And not only does it become sentient, but it also frequently operates on emotion rather than logic. Delta has feelings. As it knows that Susie is its creator, it loves her because of how grateful it is for her to have created it. It becomes very caring and supportive to her. It does help her on her ongoing work in rebuilding the Haltmann Works Company because it's very loyal to her and wants her to be happy, but it doesn't just want to be her convenient assistant like she intended for it to be. It also wants to be her friend. Her best friend, even.

Susie is deeply bewildered. She initially doesn't understand how Delta became sentient, as she didn't intend for it to be that way, and she's baffled by how it's able to be so emotional. She also constantly gets flabbergasted when Delta keeps doing things she never expected it to do, such as giving her a hug, as well as other sweet things.

At first, she's intent on "fixing" Delta as she tries to discover what led to it become sentient. She initially wants to change it to be AI-programmed like she originally intended for it to be. She eventually finds out that it was a few major programming errors that caused it to become sentient. But by the time she finds out about that, she's already grown attached to it being sentient. Because of that, she changes her mind on trying to "fix" Delta and starts embracing it the way it is.

A particular incident happens that serves as the catalyst for Susie beginning to embrace Delta's sentience. At one moment, she undergoes a work accident that results in severe physical harm inflicted on her. Delta becomes very upset to see Susie get hurt, so it picks her up and carries her to a safer place, and helps her recover from her injuries. This makes Susie become really emotional about how much this sentient robot cares about her and wants her to be okay.

She develops a very strong bond with Delta. From now on, every time it gives her a hug, she gladly returns the hug, and embraces other affectionate gestures it makes. It becomes her new best friend, and it also becomes her protector as it goes to great lengths to make sure she doesn't get hurt. In return, when any of Delta's parts break, Susie is quick to help fix and repair those broken parts.

She also starts installing new parts onto Delta over time, including giving it an advanced combat arsenal as she enjoys watching it kick ass, and she sometimes gives it temporary makeovers by changing its color scheme for certain occasions such as holidays. She has so much fun with it. She becomes a happier person before she made Delta.

Susie has made a few friends before Delta, such as Kirby, Magolor and Taranza. And despite the sentient robot becoming her new best friend, she doesn't lose the attachment she had to her other friends before this. She will still spend time with them every now and then.

And she's more than glad to have them meet Delta after her bonding with it.

So umm.... Susie is a cop in the new upcoming Kirby Dreamy Gear light novel.

I'm not entirely sure what to expect in terms of scenes she'll be in, but there's something that I think would be hilarious if it were to happen.

Magolor and Marx are also in the story. What if Susie arrests either one of them? I'd burst out laughing if that happens, especially if it's Magolor who she arrests.

I'm one of those people who think that bullying Magolor is funny. I do have concerns that this new light novel may generate new Susie discourse, but if she arrests Magolor (or Marx, but especially Magolor) that alone will make the story get a huge thumbs up from me.

After being inactive on Kirby stuff for the past several months, I plan on returning soon. And the energy will come even stronger once I get my hands on a Switch 2 and finally get to play Kirby Air Riders.

I'll say for now though that I'm in the beginning of developing on AU that will become my new main prioritized Kirbyverse. It will still include all the canon game events and will also still have a lot of the previous ideas and interpretations I've had before, but it will also include some changes and a lot of new stuff.

One of the new things for this incoming verse will be that the Dream Friends all have their own communities of people that they surround themselves with. They all basically get turned into celebrity-level big names after their participation in the events of Star Allies, although some of them still have rather controversial reputations because of their past antagonisms.

Examples: Magolor manages to carve a community of people that are frequent Magoland visitors, Taranza bonds with the Sectra Clan and that becomes his inner circle after Sectonia's death, and Susie has the employees in her newly built HWC as her community. Susie also finds two people that are the same species as her that she bonds heavily with. (They're biological siblings, and they basically become new non-biological siblings for her)

And while there are friendships between Magolor, Taranza and Susie in this verse, they're just distant friends rather than besties like commonly interpreted. They're the type of friends that would occasionally get together for big occasions, but they have their own separate best friends. Even though in Magolor's case, he actually is best friends with Marx. That's probably the closest friendship between two "villain" Dream Friends in this verse.

This year I'm more than likely going to get a Switch 2 and I will get Kirby Air Riders as the first game for it.

I've been wanting to do this, but I've just been really busy these past several months.

However, I've been getting closer to being able to do this. And oh boy do I look forward to doing it. Can't wait to get my hands on Air Riders.
