Outdoor Service (November 05, 2017 - Sunday)

Before it got any colder, ICF enjoyed an outdoor service, surrounded by the beautiful foliage and crisp fall weather. The weather really was perfect and the clouds provided a wonderful backdrop all day!

Although we won’t be able to have another outdoor service until winter passes, I hope everyone will join us for our next activity!

Monthly Volunteering (November 04, 2017 - Saturday)

We discussed with the welfare center about the possibility of going into the homes of the people we deliver the food to and spending some time with them and most of the recipients loved the suggestion! So, starting in this month, we spent a little more time with the elderly as we delivered thd food to them and they were very happy to spend more time with us! (But of course we respected the wishes of those who did not feel comfortable opening their doors to us as well as the volunteers who did not feel comfortable entering)

This November, we were a little short-handed, so I hope more of you will be able to join us next month! Let’s try to bring some warmth to these senior citizens during this cold winter season!

Monthly Volunteering (October 14, 2017 - Saturday)

In October, since the first Saturday coincided with the Chuseok holiday, we had our volunteering on the second Saturday.

With Chuseok having just passed, the side dishes we cooked incorporated Chuseok dishes. It was a lot of work, but it was fun and worth it!

Chuseok Celebration (September 30, 2017 - Saturday)  [part 2:  games]

After cooking we continued our festivities with games and raffle!

For the group game we played yutnori (윷놀이) and then everyone was free to enjoy whatever game they wanted. We had an intense game of Jenga, Halli Galli, and Monopoly (to name a few).

Chuseok Celebration (September 30, 2017 - Saturday)  [part 1:  cooking]

We came together before Chuseok (추석) to experience cooking Korean food. We cooked jeon (전), which is a traditional Chuseok dish and dumplings (만두), which is not traditional Chuseok food, but it is a common Korean food.

Chuseok Celebration!!

If you’ve lived in Korea for at least a year, you know that the Chuseok (추석) holiday is one of the two major holidays in Korea!

Because Chuseok this year falls on a Wednesday, one day after National Foundation Day (개천절) and close to Hangeul (한글) Day, most of Korea will be off work and school for a whole week!

Whenever there is a long holiday in Korea, most people (both Koreans and foreigners alike) go on vacation! But because many foreigners (especially those new to Korea) don’t get the opportunity to experience Chuseok the way Koreans do, ICF will be having a Chuseok celebration the weekend before, where we will cook some traditional Chuseok food together and play some board games!

So please come join us, have good food, and make new friends!

Cell Group (September 03, 2017 - Sunday)

Today’s sermon was about good fruit and bad fruit and now fruits are the words of our mouth. So, during cell we first took time to write all the negative things we said about/to ourselves and others, ripped them up, and threw them away as a symbol of throwing away this part of ourselves. Then we took the time to write words of encouragement for our brothers and sisters. I hope we can remember what we learned and be better believers who encourage one another rather than discourage.

Volunteering - Cooking (September 01, 2017 - Friday)

Usually we do our volunteering on the first Saturday of every month but for a few various reasons this month we decided to do the cooking Friday night and the delivering on Saturday.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

To begin the new year the best way we can, ICF will be having a "Bible Crash Course" for three weeks starting Monday, January 9th.

We live our lives the best we can, but we have to acknowledge God and follow His guidance. Through this course, we will look at the basics of the Bible because the basics are the core foundation we must build our faith upon.

Christmas Service & Party (December 25, 2016)

For Christmas, ICF’s English and Chinese ministry had a combined service followed by games and a potluck. 

The message was about how Jesus is the greatest God has ever given us and whether or not we realize how big of a gift it is that we received. Especially since, when God gave us the gift of Jesus Christ, we were considered His enemies. 

For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. (Romans 5:10 esv)

We usually give gifts to those whom we love and are good to us, but God gave us the greatest gift we could ever receive although we were undeserving and had our backs to Him. 

After the sermon, we had games such as “Pictionary” and “(Cups) Speed Stacking.” Then came the food! I would say that our potluck was a great success. Everyone left full and with leftovers.

It was a wonderful Christmas with wonderful people.
