Knoll studied the girl for a moment then turned to erase what he could of the sigils. âIt wasnât anima magic at all, actually.â He said over his shoulder as he carefully kicked lines out of place and covered other parts of the sigils with dirt.
âIt was ancient magic. Dark magic, meant to assist with the regrowth of plant life in an area.â He rolled up his robe sleeves carefully and straightened as he finished with the sigils.
âThe tremor you felt was an earthquake. Nothing at all to do with my magic.â
âYouâre a practitioner of dark magic? Fascinating! Iâve always been a bit curious about dark magic,â Micaiah admitted, her face brightening with interest, âthe plant life? I didnât realize dark magic was capable of such things.â She admitted, sharing a cordial smile. She stepped closer, glancing to the ground where the sigils had once been etched in the earth. As it was now, she couldnât make out what the shape had originally been intended to be.
âWere those sigils necessary to cast the magic?â She inquired. Her curiosity was genuine, though she had an awful habit of asking numerous questions while revealing little of herself.Â
âDark magic is capable of more than most people realize. Calling it âDarkâ magic is actually incorrect in itself. It is more akin to ancient magic that has been tabooed or otherwise lost and not in use anymore. It is very rarely actually bad or dark, just misused because of its power.â If there was one thing he could talk at length about, it was magic. Especially dark magic.
He glanced around the area to make sure anyone who stumbled upon it truly would be unable to make sense of what the sigils were ever for. Though he was secure in the knowledge that he was really the only one who could. âFor larger magics, sigils, wands, tomes, and spellbooks may be necessary to assist in the channeling or control of the magic. Multiple mages working together on a large spell has the same effect. It divides up the power or channels the magic so that it does not overwhelm the user.â He paused and focused his attention on her once again.
âIn other words....Yes. They were necessary.âÂ
