some of you need to understand that some mentally ill people will be mean or violent or abusive or act irrationally or out of the ordinary. It’s not ableist or anti recovery to acknowledge that some people are like that. If anything, it’s ableist to not acknowledge it considering a large amount of mentally ill people are not the people pleasing, sad and small infantilising idea you have of us. Anxiety and depression is not the default mental illness. It’s not *the* mental illness. Funny posts, memes, jokes and so on about mental illness is *not* mental illness. Mental illness is scary and mean and harsh and competitive and it *can* make you a bad person sometimes. That’s just the horrible, awful reality of it. No amount of funny posts or infographics can change that. There’s still hope for the angry, violent, mean and maybe even abusive people. There’s always hope. But hope begins with acknowledgment
