Xayah brushed her claws through her hair to knock it from her view, curiosity slowly overtaking any light irritation that might have been lingering in her expression beforehand.
"It's shit. The state of magic in Ionia is shit." She said, blunt and gloomy but matter-o-fact.
"What are you trying to cook? Honestly, you should probably get with Rakan if you're trying to make something good. He's better at cooking than I am, usually."
[ Damn rito you really just gonna erase half of Xayah's character and conflict by retconning the Lhotlan into homeless nomads huh ]

”The sand is too hot for my feet! Too bad, I wanted to go to the beach today. There's no shoes for these bird feet!”

“So is being an idiot who rolls around in poison ivy, but that didn’t stop you,” She teased, while simultaneously reaching up to grab him by the ear and drag him off. Bath time.
”ow ow ow!! Wait just, grab my hand, not my feathers AH.” he hates it when she does that, he’s a big baby with his feathers after all. Or dramatic at last. Very dramatic. But he still follows after her while she tugs away at his soft ear feathers to lead him along. What made it worse was that she was short so he had to bend awkwardly while she dragged him around.
With a huff, the bird woman released his fluff-- but only because he was already injured--or, well, itchy, anyway, which was probably enough to be considered an injury if he kept scratching at it with his claws. She got behind him instead and prodded him in his butt to urge him to get the lead out.
“Star dad’s gonna laugh his ass off when he sees this.”
“I’m going to make you an oatmeal bath. And then I’m going to murder you.”
“You cant murder me thats illegal.”

“RAKAN.”
Eyes Xayah cautiously. "Why is there a skull on your arm? Aren't you a bird? Did you kill another bird to put it on your arm?"
“Of course not. I found it. I collect bones.” That was almost as ominous.
“It takes 5 seconds for your nipples to get hard when touched, but it took mine 2 seconds to feel like theyre on fire and develop a painful rash from this fucking plant and I have minor regrets but that is OKAY.”
She sighs. She just sighs.

An unamused, deadpan stare and folded arms made the woman seem particularly unwelcoming. It could have almost been perceived as a threatening energy, were she not so much smaller than he, head cocked up uncomfortably to squint at him.
"Wow. What a brilliant observation. What gave me away? I'm sure it couldn't be the giant fluffy ears, or the literal bird feet." She raised a foot to clench her talons in emphasis.
To try to appear dangerous, she certainly could, and she succeeded to a very decent extent. But, danger wasnt exactly something that Sett avoided, or felt uncomfortable in.
"No, no, it was neither of those, of course. It was actually your face, having the 'im better than everyone' written all across it. It was an easy call from there." He grinned, not provokingly, but certainly trying to answer in kind, if a bit teasingly. He didn't have a bad relation with vastaya, but this one certainly felt a bit like a purist. And with those he didnt do as well....
She did not seem nearly as amused by that quip as he was, her ears momentarily flattening against her skull. Still, such a statement was no reason to inact violence--yet--he was obviously at least part vastayan. It was an unfortunate truth that her kind only seemed to become rarer and rarer by the day.
"...Not everyone. Just most people." She played along, eyes tapered and a short smirk on her lips to try and show she didn't have a stick all the way up her ass. Her arms remained folded.
"My name is Xayah, of the Lhotlan tribe. What tribe are you from?"
“Oh.. Oh!” His ears perked up as his fingers clutched the stone, eyes staring at the shimmering surface of the object before he turned his attention back to her. In all honesty he was more happy to see her than have a stupid stone. It did make him feel a bit tingly though. “Only one of us can hold onto it while its working?”
"Welll--yeah--but even if only one of us has it, that's still a lot of power. Can you imagine how strong your healing will be?! And you should see my featherstorms." She bristled, clearly very excited with her find. It took her long enough to obtain it, she'd been gone for awhile. Which was exactly why a moment later, she'd lean up to give him a kiss on the cheek, one claw finding it's way beneath his wing to hold him at his waist.
"I hope you held up alright while I was gone. Did you do something with your crest?" She asked, reaching up to brush the streak of red in his hair.

"I did. I did indeed. But it was worth it." She proclaimed with confidence, settling into the bird man's lap and his healing touch. That was nice-- but it wouldn't really help with the stink on her. Whatever she'd been up to, it apparently involved rolling around in something foul--she would definitely want to bathe after this. But for now, there were other manners to address.
Satchel in hand, Xayah opened it, pulling out her bounty with a prideful smirk. She held it up to Rakan boastfully, her ears giving a soft twitch.
"Isn't it great?"
It was...a rock. A very shiny, pretty looking rock, but a rock nonetheless.
He stared in silence for practically what felt like an hour. It was just thirty seconds of silence but it was still pretty long. She disappeared for a rock? It was a nice rock, he couldn’t say it was ugly. But why a rock? “That is a nice rock, you got me there!” He admitted finally, a bit of disbelief in his voice.
“No--no, you don’t get it,” she hissed, not an angry hiss, but a very determined one-- which was accompanied by her smaller hands taking his own. She displaced the stone in his palm, urging him to hold it. It radiated a pleasant warmth, and when it made contact with his fingertips, still aglow with magic, the stone seemed to reverberate-- a soft but calming tone echoing from its surface.
“This is a Rhapsody Stone-- one of the only ones left in the world! It amplifies the magic of whoever’s holding it tenfold! The applications are practically limitless. Don’t you see? We might actually be able to take down those bastards in Ionia. We might be able to save our people.”

The small bird woman gave him a tiny wave and a forced smile, though judging by her gently twitching ears, she was much happier to see him than her lack of social skills let on.
"Good to see you too, Yun. You're looking well."
