If this page suddenly goes silent one day, know that my brother Samer didn’t make it. I will never forget those who saw him suffering from severe bombing injuries, lacking his vital medications, yet chose silence and kept scrolling.
I feel completely shattered and deeply ashamed begging strangers for help every single day. This endless nightmare has stripped us of everything, forcing me to sacrifice even my own dignity just to keep my brother and my family alive.
I want nothing from this world except to see Samer healthy and free of pain, and to save my family from this slow death. Please donate so we can afford his essential psychiatric and medical treatments before it’s too late.
Samer is slipping away, and we cannot fight this alone. Every single second matters now as his condition worsens without treatment. Please, don't look away, your support is his only chance to survive this nightmare.
today is the ten year anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub shooting. a full decade ago, i lost a friend and a coworker. i was lucky. i had friends that lost several people. today, please remember and fight for all those that have died to live the live they should have been free to. i'll always remember you, Cory.

What we are witnessing today is the result of millions of dollars being poured into media networks, news outlets, and social media platforms after the Israeli government injected hundreds of millions of dollars to whitewash their image and spread the notion that Gaza is prosperous and affluent. This is what we see today: the world has forgotten Gaza, forgotten Palestine, and trivialized the humanitarian crisis. These are young children who know nothing of life; their only crime is being born in Gaza. Bring Gaza back to the forefront of the media. Let in water, treatment , and food, and get us out of here so we can resume our lives.
Gaza remains under siege and subjected to daily attacks with all types of weapons. Every day, at least five Palestinians are killed as a result of these unjustified attacks by the Israeli army, which violate international law in full view of the world. Gaza is being annihilated and continues to be annihilated daily, yet no one lifts a finger. Children, the elderly, the young, and the elderly are dying, and their rights are being violated indiscriminately in Gaza.
My niece, Masa, is only 10 days old today. She should be breastfeeding, but she's currently in the hospital receiving injections to treat her breast infections. The reason is that the occupation prevents the entry of essential supplies for pregnant women, such as nutritional supplements and the rest they need. A tiny baby, only 10 days old, is lying in the hospital right now. What injustice is this? Please help us. Give what you can to save this baby and all of us. Please donate now.
Please, I beg you, donate whatever you can. We have no hope but you. Please donate now; you are our last hope to save my father and my niece. Please donate.

Ríhanna Kelver, a bartender and trans rights advocate in Laramie, has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent after a 13 September 2025 confrontation outside the Crowbar & Grill, whereshe worked. Kelver could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison if convicted on both charges.
Kelver says one man in a group of men across the street from her started shouting homophobic and transphobic insults at her before the man allegedly shoved her to the ground in a downtown crosswalk, as reported by The Laramie Reporter.
There's more, as it pertains to Black trans people's right to self-defence:
Despite Wyoming’s “Stand Your Ground” statute, which allows people to use reasonable force in moments of self defense, Kelver faces up to 15 years in prison for both charges, as well as up to $11,000 in fines, per Cowboy State Daily. Kelver faces an additional year and $1,000 fine for a charge of interference with a peace officer. [...]
As pointed out by Slate, self-defense laws are often put into question when people from marginalized communities, especially trans people, use them, including Cece McDonald, a Black trans woman who served time in a men’s prison for defending her friends during a racist and transphobic attack. Ky Peterson, a Black trans man from Georgia, was also arrested and imprisoned for killing his rapist in self-defense.
In my absence, Eman's village's situation has been getting worse, far far worse. As the fabric of Sudan's medical and other social infrastructures have been destroyed by war and genocide, displaced people are seeing a high risk of disease outbreaks amongst them. This is what Eman's village is currently going through, and her family has been one of many affected by dengue fever.
Eman is scared, alone, and feels like her family's situation is invisible. Please show her that she isn't alone, and that her and her family and her village aren't invisible. Please if you can spare anything, help Eman @emiiii980 out.

Help Tawfiq and His Children Escape the Trauma of War
My name is Tawfiq Al-Tatri. I am 40 years old, a father of five, and a survivor—but survival here in Gaza is not truly living. My children and I have lost everything. Our home, our safety, our community—gone.
We now live in a refugee camp, crammed inside a fragile tent, shivering through the freezing nights, unsure where we will be tomorrow. We have been displaced over and over again, fleeing destruction, heartbreak, and loss. My home was bombed with my family inside. By some miracle, we survived—but so many of our neighbors and relatives did not.
As a father, my only mission now is to protect my children, to give them a future beyond war and suffering. I dream of getting them to safety, away from the fear that haunts their every step. But I cannot do it alone.
That is why I am reaching out, with hope in my heart, asking for your kindness. Your support can help us cover the costs of leaving Gaza for Egypt—giving my children a chance at life, at healing, at simply being children again.
Please, if you can, stand with us. Help me save my children from the trauma of war. Every donation, every share, every prayer brings us closer to safety
Thank you from the depths of my heart.

Rumination is probably the most common type of OCD compulsion, but I rarely see anyone talking about it. I've talked to multiple people diagnosed with OCD who didn't even recognize it as a compulsion.
Basically, if you have OCD you have terrible intrusive thoughts. They can be about anything, but common themes are fear of being a bad person, fear of hurting someone, fear of contamination. etc.
Rumination is when you get stuck in a spiral. Rumination is when you spend hours catastrophizing, overthinking, analyzing, telling yourself it's going to be okay.
I'll say it again:
Rumination is a compulsion.
Rumination is a compulsion, and that means you have to stop doing it.
I did ERP (exposure response prevention) for my OCD with a therapist! For 9 months! And it did help, but the idea didn't really click until I found this website a couple years later.
And Oh My God. It made things make so much more sense, and I was able to pull myself out of an episode even though I wasn't in therapy or on meds at the time.
Genuinely if you have OCD, or even if you suspect you have OCD, I'm begging you to read some of these articles.
Like this was genuinely life changing for me.
Here are some of the ones that were most helpful to me:

Friends, thank you so much for the massive support and these 15 recent donations!
While this high engagement gives us hope, we deeply wish to see more donations matching this incredible reach. Our lives and Samer's survival depend entirely on your financial help. Please keep this momentum going.
Thank you so much for the 12 additional donations! My family consists of 12 people. We have already lost my father and my brother to this war, and we cannot afford to lose Samer.
For anybody not caught up: Tennessee just passed a new map that pretty much makes it so black neighborhoods have no power in local votes. Two things about this. While protestors were chanting "No Jim Crow", white Tennessee lawmakers were caught laughing on video. On top of this, Representative Justin Pearson and his brother KeShaun Pearson were arrested for trying to give their takes on the matter (which is not only their legal right but literally his job). If you give a shit about black people, help fight this. We can't allow a return to Jim Crow.
My little girl, Yusra, was seriously injured in a bombing near our tent. She has undergone several surgeries and needs medical treatment and healthy food. I urge you to donate to help her survive and return to life.
She needs $50 a day for treatment and healthy food, and I am unable to provide it for her. Her father is a prisoner of the occupation army.

Video of a female Orchard Swallowtail butterfly emerging from her chrysalis I raised from a near newly emerged caterpillar.
I have a lemon tree in my garden this species lays on so when I spot the young caterpillars I collect and raise them indoors then release them as adults since they’re unfortunately heavily targeted by patasitic tachinid flies.
Interestingly through raising this species I made a new discovery that allows for the determination of the sex of the butterfly BEFORE it emerges from the chrysalis. I found females form green chrysalis while males form mottled brown chrysalis. Also interestingly of all those I’ve raised the significant majority have been female and I’ve only produced two males.
This individual decided to form her chrysalis on the plastic wall of the critter keeper so I did have to offer my finger as a grippable surface to help her pull herself up and out.
Once the adult butterflies emerge I move them into a repurposed fish tank I set up for them to allow them a safe and secure large space to pump up their wings then once they start to flutter around I release them if the weather is ideal and if it’s not I provide nectar mix for them and release them whenever conditions are next ideal (ie no rain, not too windy, not too cold)
@3liza they didn’t account for it because they didn’t realize it was an issue. The particles the gloves are shedding are not microplastics but they are similar enough in composition and under an electron microscope that because the scientists didn’t know to account for them, they didn’t realize that’s what they were seeing.
Also they DID account for contamination in WET sample preparation, because they’d already learned previously that the nitrile gloves could contaminate wet samples, but this was the first discovery that they were contaminating DRY or AIRBORNE samples as well.
All of this was very clearly laid out in just the last provided link - i didn’t even have to read all of them to learn this, I read like 3 paragraphs of the nautil.us article and I was able to learn what happened and why it hadn’t been accounted for.
Like, I understand the frustration, but this is the sort of thing that has to be DISCOVERED before it can be accounted for, and this is what that kind of discovery looks like, and berating scientists for not already knowing something science hadn’t yet learned is kind of a pointless and bad faith approach to things.
We’ve learned that a lot of the studies done on microplastics in our environment were not actually accurate, and had unintentionally incorrectly inflated numbers of microplastics in their samples due to this issue, which means that while microplastics are still obviously a problem, they’re not as overwhelming large of a problem than we thought! This is a good thing! Science has done its job and we have learned new things and can now do even better science! There’s no reason to be angry at or berate the scientists who’ve gone before. We know better now. That’s the important part.
It's absolutely crazy that intellectual labor can wipe you out. It seems like it shouldn't be a thing, like your stores of brain juice shouldn't be able to be depleted in that way.
I feel like a wizard that's out of spell slots, and to me that's a hackish mechanical limitation put in place to try to balance the classes.
