Siemens 300 series PLCs used for many engineering projects over my engineering Major - everything from process simulators through to multi PLC SCADA systems!! Programming these things is pretty fun, and you can choose from a pretty decent list of languages: LAD, FBD, SCL and Graph.
Just your standard RS485 bus - this was during development of a LabView DCS utilising multiple PCs as master/slave/HMIs
New project - EEPV: a solar array comprising of different PV technologies, connected to several inverters for renewable energy studies. The inverters are connected to a labview program via a RS485 connection. This program is also connected to a SQL database.
Finally got a new 3-phase plug for our conveyor system!!! It works :D
Working in the pilot plant: conducting a series of rectangular pulse inputs to various tanks in order to obtain pure capacity gain for the systems. Data also will be used to determine the level of interaction between manipulated variables and process variables. In the bottom picture strong interaction is observed between two tank levels and a variable speed pump.
Relocating large satellite dish; will be repurposed as a solar concentrator for use in renewables experiments. Safety first !!
Tuning of pure capacity systems doesn’t allow for standard step response modelling, relay tuning methods are applied. To derive system gains for interaction analysis, least squares and impulse responses are needed!!
Building small LabVIEW controlled networked servo-cam.
Preparing a decommissioned conveyor for integration of a new control system (Allen Bradley PLC)
"I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success... such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything."
