I was reading the Swedish translator's comments about his translation of Vladimir Nabokov's Gogol, and he lamented how poor the standard Swedish translation of Dead Souls was. I remembered liking the Swedish translation I had read, and went to check my edition and it was advertised on the back cover how it was a new translation, that was finally faithful to Gogol's prose.

The translator of my edition of Dead Souls? Staffan Skott. The translator of the Gogol biography whose comments I had just read? Staffan Skott. I.e, he went on to write the Swedish translation of Dead Souls he thought it merited. Hashtag, good for him.
