Looking dumbfounded, Shouto takes the basket, glancing over it. The fact that his brother brought him a gift is nice enough, but these are things he likes. Even after so long apart, his brother still knows his tastes, cares enough to ask what he’d appreciate most. “Thank you…” he mumbles, feeling awkward. He steps away from the door but holds it open, both so he can let Natsu into his room and so he can set the basket down.

As soon as it’s down, he steps in to hug him, if only briefly.

“You aren’t missing classes for this, are you? I heard you started college.”

❈ ----- “You matter a lot more to me than some classes, Shouto.” He hugs him back, his face noticeably becoming more sad.

❈ ----- “I’m sorry...for how long I wasn’t there for you. Words can never make up for it... and I know you probably don’t forgive me. It’s understandable.”

It’s not that he isn’t accustomed to people knocking on his door. He is, much to his own surprise. Midoriya and Iida visit him with a shocking frequency, and his other classmates tend to be pretty eager to include everyone in all their shenanigans. As such, his expression is bland and he expects absolutely nothing out of the ordinary when he opens his door. Certainly, he’s not expecting one of his older brothers.

“Natsu?” he says- or, more accurately, asks. He can barely believe his eyes. “I… wasn’t expecting you. Wow. What are you doing here?”

❈ ----- “T’see you, what’s it look like?” He smiles, even though the thought of Shouto hating him was overtaking his mind. “I brought ‘ya some snacks! Mom said you’d like these.” He holds out the basket.

Natsu was nervous. It’d been years since he’d last seen Shouto in person; he texted and called him a lot, sure, but he hadn’t actually been able to hug him again. Shouto also wasn’t aware that he’d been planning to visit UA for quite a while; Aizawa and the principal had cleared it months ago.

Holding a basket of snacks and fruit in one hand as a gift, he knocked on his little brother’s dorm room door.
