why do you draw taliesin so old lmao not tryna hate
Hello there!
And, oh..! Well, Taliesin is not necessarily a spring chicken from what I know, but I do not think I turned him into a grandaddy. Even if I did, I doubt anyone would have a problem with that.
I am one of those people who view aging as a privilege (despite a few fleeting jokes I made in the past), which it is, and admire traits like wrinkles, smile lines, eye bags, dark circles, etc., on a person in an artistic and reverential manner. I'd rather be the guy who causes a scandal by drawing characters as their age (or older) rather than below that. :3
Actually, no, I do have some thoughts, and they're not about the Thalmor right now. It's about the entire debacle surrounding old Morrowind fans becoming unhinged over the idea of a remaster. They see Oblivion Remastered and they're now hounding over their game as if someone is about to break into their house and rip that shit straight out of their hands and force them to play a fancy retexture against their will, like they do not still have the original at the end of the goddamn day. These people are twice my age, old enough to be my damn grandparents, and they're moaning about how Morrowind doesn't need a "fugly" remaster like the game is getting outmoded. Babies in wrinkly flesh, I tell you.
And don't get it twisted I see people my age getting bent out of shape over this too, I see you and I'm currently 3 miles away from your house with a tennis shoe, a jar of pickles, and a sock. Use your imagination.
I'm so tired of useless discourse, oh my god. And I haven't even gotten started on the people who had a heart attack over the Oblivion Remaster because of the wrinkles, uneven skin textures, etcetera. Don't even get me started because I'm starting a war
I never thought I would need to buy a cookbook to learn a sliver of post-Tiber War lore about the abundance of orphans from the attack on Alinor... I woke up to a new Imperial Knowledge video and nearly collapsed at the topic because it happens to be the one thing I've been fixating on for a good chunk of time now ("What Is Life Actually Like Under The Thalmor"). I have a lot of thoughts right now, and I don't know how to share them 😭
people who say they think female characters are fundamentally uninteresting are genuinely the weakest links to me like if you cant even make yourself care about a FICTIONAL woman u kind of need to die slow
When I learned that Redguards do not really mess with Lorkhan, I felt more justified in secretly making my Redguard × Altmer yaoi and pretending to devastate millions
I've been meaning to check out the Keizaal Online Skyrim RP for a few weeks now as one of my off-the-grid sidequests, but I am so shy and afraid that someone will eat me or something like that lmao
Also, knowing me, I would have my character go straight to Haafingar for all of the wrong reasons 😭
yes, that discourse is y i even reblogged this, though i vaguely remember that being there last year too when i participated 😭 seems so comically online digital artist toil & ip brained on top of just being a virtually unenforceable and meaningless rule anyway
Hello, I'm still around! Right now, I'm very sick. I've been battling high fever, a clogged nose, and my voice being lost for this past week. The good news is, I have a new PC and I will get to work on videos as soon as I get better. I'm sorry for just vanishing for so long without notice. ^^"
Hello everyone! For videos and other forms of content I may create with Balam and Taliesin in the future, I will need to establish a timeline and plan for their story. Which is what I'm doing now. 🤣
There are already three videos with these two here on this blog, but two of them will unfortunately have to be disregarded (because they are out of order with the timeline / were done before I decided to form Balam into a proper character and not just an avatar for skits). I will still keep these two videos up, but they won't count towards the story I'm trying to tell.
(The two videos that are being shelved from the story: "The Riften Incident", and "He's in good hands, I swear!")
The first video introducing the Bard's College questline will still count (though in future videos, they will have more serious acting than what was displayed here). In fact, since I paused after the questline chapter, it will resume whenever I start making videos again. After the questline ends, Balam and Taliesin will go through the main questline. After Alduin is slain, their story will end(*).
Will there be a romance subplot? ... Well. I don't know! Leaning towards a no. Sure, I wanted them to have some tender moments together but romance? That's a whole different beast altogether and I'm not sure if I can go through with it. Besides, Balam has a lot of demons (that will be explored) that distract her from the possibility of a relationship. Especially with someone like Taliesin. 🤣
The full explanation/plan:
Prophetic dreams that Balam had experienced before she arrived in Skyrim from Hammerfell prevented her from slaying the former Thalmor agent on the spot after discovering him. Despite a (divine) force driving her to spare this shady ally, she cannot trust him yet after recruiting him. After all, she was supposed to head to Whiterun and warn Jarl Balgruuf of Alduin's return and his attack on Helgen.
What guarantees that she will even make it there with this new friend of hers, if she cannot trust him as far as she can throw him? Also, how does she know that these prophetic dreams mean anything at all? She is a fish out of water in Skyrim and has no idea what she is even doing there. She wanted to get away from home, but why do all of her paths always lead back to Skyrim? And why is she not allowed to slay someone who should be considered an enemy to her on multiple fronts?
So to kill two birds with one stone, Balam sought the opportunity to both get to know Taliesin better and know more about Skyrim (and search for reasons why most of these prophetic dreams she experienced always centered around the Nordic province) by traveling with him to Haafingar. She wanted to immerse herself in the most cultured hold in Skyrim without getting much flak from Nords in the east for being a foreigner.
Also, it would be stupid to take someone, dressed to the gills in Thalmor robes, to any Stormcloak territory. A change of wardrobe is definitely needed for Taliesin if Balam wishes to take him anywhere. She plans to get that and more within this journey to the west, and maybe even pick up a few extra skills and hobbies while in Solitude. She always wanted to learn how to play the lute, for example...

* I have heard through the grapevine that "The Thalmor's Shadow" mod may (or may not, open to correction) receive a rewrite and revoice. Which means that I may have to pace myself, as I am not sure how Taliesin's story may change in the future. In that case, I will just make more posts about Balam and her backstory. How she may interact with Taliesin may change, depending on what lies in the future for him.
Thank you for reading! I am sorry if this seems all over the place, it took me a very long while to finally get the things that were stewing in my brain out in writing. This should have been done months ago, but things in my life outside of this space were more demanding of my attention. At least it's all out in the open now, and of course, there is more still in store, at least for Balam. I will work with what I have for Taliesin. ^^
