usually do not care to address much anti-endogenic argument , but this one in particular stick in mind because of how much this baffle .

one user once ask why collectives not based in trauma would even need front and symptom trackers - collectives who really need these things " must " be traumagenic and dissociative , and everyone else just make things up to steal away " resources " .

of course , can indeed say that these collectives may still have dissociation , as well as myriad other symptoms that need to track - things like brain fog , stress levels , mania and depression swings , and so on . some of these can even make difficult to know who is in front at any given time , so front tracker is tool to help cope with that .

but just as well , some collectives do not have symptoms that need to track like this - kossai largely do not , for example , and yet kossai track front anyway .

wonder if this might be helpful thought exercise for collective members who feel like possibly over-reliant on roles :

write self-introduction , without any role labels . take time to describe habits , both good and bad . describe relationships with others among collective - whether tend to butt heads with someone in particular , or feel really close . describe likes and dislikes , comforts and discomforts , things that feel safe and unsafe .

do any patterns show up ? what could those patterns say ? is there anything in particular which stick out , maybe require more questions ? as thought exercise , this is not meant for public , so get as gritty as feel need - and just as well , feel free to leave things unanswered , this is not about perfection .

intention of this is to figure out what role label both say , and hide , about oneself . sometimes that is just fine for public eye , but not always as useful for private life and communication with one another . if something important is accidentally hidden by label expectations , then conflicts might repeat over and over again - need to get to root , and can only do that with deeper knowledge .

some collectives really like to find roles , to point of distress and confusion when someone lack clear role .

roles can be easy shorthand to understand why someone might be around , what draw someone closer to or away from front , and what kind of behaviour to expect . but roles can also be boxes that hinder growth and exploration , or even actively hurt someone , when not careful .

rather than roles , think what often try to search for is communication , and role label is just easy way to set ground level . even someone who is aware of personal behaviours and bad habits can not necessarily explain why , but labels at least give idea .

once again , think more questions will be key . maybe some kind of role label become clear through answers , maybe not . either way , questions might help to understand more about how to help , even if still do not understand why yet . things like :

what things feel safe and unsafe ?

what things feel comfortable and uncomfortable ?

what appeal about X activity / bad habit / etc ?

questions like these will not immediately blow everything wide open , but will give basis to work from when discuss how to cope , how to help , and what else to even do with life .

original post which this stem from talk about someone who stay up all night , sometimes spiral in process , and could not really explain why . but nighttime can feel freer than daytime for most people , as lack nighttime obligations . some people also still fear dark even into adulthood , or even fear act of sleep in self - nightmares , night terrors , sleep apnea events , all sorts of things that might distress . some enjoy feelings and implications of self neglect , or undertake as some sort of punishment - might not even fully grasp that this is mindset .

there could still be dozens of other possible contributors , and none of these will necessarily map onto roles - behaviour could even be completely irrelevant to personal origin . even if lack labels , knowledge often already provide base to ask questions and communicate from - just have to know how , which is unfortunately hardest part .

if it's okay for me to add, i also feel like sometimes systems who will people their members miss into the system have a bad habit of dehumanising the results of that, only viewing them as someone who can cheer someone up or fill a hole and not as an actual person with their own wants and life.

obviously, i don't think willing members is bad (i know a lot of people who do it with the proper care and respect to those who are the results of that, and we've even done it ourselves before), but i just think sometimes systems need to step back and assess why they're doing this and if they're treating those willed properly.

about belief

there is something that always bother about how communities use language of belief - firstly , that experiences and frameworks use same language .

respect of experiences do not require that personally share in and adopt all of anyone else's frameworks - religion , culture , tradition , and so on . do think this is what most people intend when say phrases like , " other people do not need to believe in order to respect " . 

however , these phrases become murky in communities where people similarly use these words to deny that any experiences even happen at all . to " not believe " in experiences like physical nonhumanity or in non-dissociative plurality is most often refusal of idea that any experience - and any meaningful existence - happen at all . 

even at kindest , which is very loose interpretation of kind , such people may have idea of better framework which need enforce - that is , illness which these subjects choose to ignore . physical nonhumanity must be sick delusion , non-dissociative plurality must simply be extremely buried trauma - need forceful " help " to dig and uncover this sad , miserable reality at any cost .

respect for others' experiences can come without need to adopt others' frameworks into personal life . this is something that can , and would argue for clarity should , say without words like " believe " . 

most people do not need to sort world into believe and disbelieve , to figure out alternate ways to explain these frameworks - things in life both big and small may remain unknowable forever , no matter any efforts , and all anyone can really do is decide how to personally move through . even if at risk of destabilisation from unknown lines like these , this will not necessarily be safe way to cope in long run . 

when these experiences come up , what ask is not for anyone else to drop current frameworks and adopt these fresh new ones . all that want is to share and be on same page that have experiences at all - whether or not understand or share in frameworks that underlie . 

have to admit there is also rather cruel sting in reminders : support for these experiences simply must come with footnote that not everyone will believe . at best this is reminder that others consider experiences scary and unknowable , at worst this is reminder that will outright disrespect and refuse to consider as real . already live enough to know that without any need for reminders , many appreciations !

So Hank Green got caught using AI and it’s a whole huge blow up, and I really don’t have much interest in adding to the pile on.

However, I do think this case is great example of what happens when smart people decide they can use these systems “responsibly.”

Let’s put aside the plagiarism and the energy use for a second (not that these don’t matter, but they’re not relevant to my point at the moment) and pretend these systems were made with entirely properly obtained info and ran on only solar, but otherwise were entirely the same. If you’re a person, you might think “okay, I’m going to only use this to come up with ideas for my next paper: I’m going to do all the research myself and the writing, I’m just gonna brainstorm topics.”

The thing is, even if you’re trying to limit use to just “brainstorming” the chatbot isn’t going to limit itself to just brainstorming. You might ask it “what should I write about involving Greek history” and it may suggest “the plague of Athens” but it’s also going to suggest some “basic info” on the plague of Athens that you might end up picking up and deciding your topic is. It’s going to provide you with “research.” And even if you decide to check that research yourself, that’s still setting you down a specific path you might not have picked organically.

And speaking of double checking its “research”, fact checking is a time heavy process. Not only now do you have to read the original text the bot provided, but you also have to compare it line by line with the summary the bot provided. That’s more time than it would have taken to just read the article by itself. And with any time heavy task, people are going to get lazy. And in original research being lazy might mean skimming a paper or an abstract, chatbots allow you to be lazy without looking at the article at all.

And soon enough, despite telling yourself you were only going to use it for brainstorming, you have offloaded topic generation, research and eventually even drafting because that’s what these bots are intended to do. They are not meant to serve as research tools or help brainstorm or serve as a bouncing off board: they are built to encourage maximum engagement. And that means if you go at them with the best of ethical intentions, they are built to tempt you to use them as much as possible, regardless of whatever line you drew in the sand for yourself.

Anyway, my main thought here is you are not smart enough to outwit the dopamine machine. It wants your attention and nothing more. Do not assume you can resist just because you know what’s under the hood.

I feel like the reason why I don't see a lot of Plural Comics from Larger Plural Groups is because it's REALLY hard to make a comic with a crap ton of people because then you have no "central people" to use who the readers can become familiar with and whatnot. Hard to root for a person you don't know, yeah? And then, if you're like us, you've got a crap ton of people coming and going so it's always someone "new" or otherwise hasn't been around in foreeeever. Which, again, doesn't make for maintaining good viewership understanding.

And that's especially the reason why Socii haven't made many. Well, for a number of reasons really. One, because of that, but another is because when Socii are using the vessel, 90% of the time we're on our own on this planet and not much different than singlets in terms of living day to day life. Sure sometimes we chat with others through the portals but that's not often. For the most part, when you come to use the vessels you're on your own fam. Even if you were to ask for help from someone, you would have to LEAVE this planet and travel allll the way back to the Harbor and then have to wait the other person's "cool down period" before you could continue your stay here. So most just handle everything by themselves *anyway*.

Which, at that point, all of our comics would just end up being slice of life comics based on the daily lives of Socii 😂

yeah , kossai mostly use anonymous little sonas , only small sliver of courtiers have personal ones … but even as that small sliver grow , will end up bigger than full rosters of many other blogs . plus new alias scheme is kind of more poetic than " name-y " - that is entirely point due to court culture , but some would see as barrier .

which , on that , is also why prefer not to share much about courtlands , culture is important to guard … so mostly what have on offer is front or near-front experiences , and glimpses on what " function " is like . not bad , just not always hugely relatable . frequent fronters and thus contributors shift , with aliases that feel distant and sonas that aim to abstract identities - either funny things anyone can grasp or straight infographics work best , not so much personal tales .
