mithrax cracks me up he’s obviously u know very respectful and has a strong moral code and is leader of an entire house but he’s still essentially just a fairly young adult. he spent his grumpy teenage years w the awoken and just fuckin took eido (good work mom friend sjur <3) the more i learn abt him the more i understand variks being like “...i really hope he’s got this under control! so far so good but ??? how does he have any of these under control???”

can u imagine u hear via word of mouth that that one dude who adopted a baby as a teenager is now the leader of essentially The Rebellion? (seeing as the strongest house is/was Eramis’ and she got fuckin priority delivered stasis powers) and you’re like wow um that seems like really unlikely to go well for this dude. but not only does he keep coming back to the “We Hate Mithrax” zone to carpool new members, he now has his entire house INSIDE the city of the species that hates your species bc he was INVITED

and then u meet him and he’s just a dude. he’s nice. he’s not even 30. he likes to talk abt tech and is very excited abt planning a party w his new friends. he knows more slang than you.

The gun feels heavy in my hands. Or is it my head that feels heavy. This has never happened before. This was never meant to happen but we were prepared; what a strange paradox.

I’m hearing chatter over the radio. The enemy is heading for the capital. Our generals are telling us to guard the Fulani Causway and ensure the civilians get to safety.

To get there I need to fight through wherever I am. I feel lightheaded. Either that or intensely focused. My bullets meet their targets and I feel semi-invincible.

Get to the causeway. That is my mind’s singular focus.
