Happy October, Protein Pals!
October is one of our favorite months here at Ideal Nutrition of CT! Check out all of the foodie celebrations to look forward to this month!
Apples are the first thing we think of when autumn arrives! While you can’t have apples on Phase 1 of Ideal Protein, we carry both the Apple Oatmeal and Apple & Cinnamon Soy Puffs to satisfy your taste buds. You can even make some delicious Zucchini Apple Crisp, Apple Soy Puff Cookies, or Chunky Apple Oatmeal Cookies!
Don’t get stuck in a rut wondering what to cook for youself on Ideal Protein. October is National Cookbook Month, and Ideal Nutrition carries both of Chef Verati’s cookbooks, My Ideal Recipes and Taste the Freedom (for Phase 4), at our clinic. You can also purchase Janeva Eickhoff’s popular IP cookbook HERE. Of course, if you’re more of an “online person,” we recommend following our Pinterest page at http://pinterest.com/idealnutrition.
October wouldn’t be October without pumpkins. No, unfortunately, you have to skip the pumpkin pie and Starbuck’s Pumpkin Spice Lattes, but no worries! Celebrate the first day of the month with this delicious Pumpkin Spice Latte that is Phase 1-friendly and won’t knock you off protocol! Don’t forget, you can always add Pumpkin Spice to your coffee and IP recipes, too!
It’s National Mushroom Day and Low Fat Low Carb has some delicious recipes that include mushrooms! Try the Beef with Ginger, Mushrooms, and Kale, Italian Asparagus and Mushrooms, or Crab-Stuffed Mushrooms (using Walden Farms Mayo). Did you know that you can use mushrooms for a burger “bun,” as well? ...because YOU CAN! Delish!
Pasta is definitely not on the Phase 1 menu, but Ideal Nutrition carries the Rotini. If you’re more into spaghetti, however, we suggest purchasing a spiralizer to make your very own zoodles! They’re very easy to prepare and can be eaten with meatballs and red sauce! You can also enjoy them in this Zucchini Shrimp Scampi recipe, or toss them into a stir fry.
Warm yourself up on this autumn morning with one of our Ideal Protein oatmeals. We carry both the Apple Oatmeal and Maple Oatmeal at Ideal Nutrition and they are two of our most popular products. Dieters can also use them in other recipes, such as the Maple Oatmeal Rhubabrb Crisp or Cinnamon Maple Oatmeal Cookies by Janeva!
