If that trans girl gets super weirdly apologetic, like is borderline apologizing for breathing or is apologizing for things that are basically nothing/happened forever ago, whatever you do, do not leave her alone. Chances are it's one of two things, and neither of them are good; she's either bordering on a breakdown and thinks basically everything she does is wrong, or is past that point and desperately wants to make sure no one's angry at her before she hurts herself/takes her own life. You might think it's weird, you might get tired of it and want to push her away, but for the love of god do not do that. Her apologizing every 0.5 seconds is because she's been taught not to value her own emotions, but they're overpowering her and she doesn't know what to do other than apologize like her life depends on it. Her life might not depend on it, but it very well could depend on how you respond to her heart's most desperate cries for help

a gentle, sweet "are you apologizing for the sun shining? :)" is one of my favorite ways to respond to other trans women who apologize for existing, for taking up space, for having needs, for wanting to be known and loved. you have to let her know she matters to you, that her presence is like the sunshine

when I treat trans women this way, I notice they apologize less over time and get more comfortable voicing their needs to me without shrinking themselves

So, I admit I really truly hate posts like this. Why? Because we live in a digital age where you can just link to other things.

“If you don’t know why the other variations are crossed out please do some research on your own.” No. How about instead, if you are making an educational post, link to one. Just one. Give us a place to start if it is important. It’s the internet! >:( And you’re making an educational post! Link!

If this were a personal post about onesself, fine. I’ll agree it’s not your responsibility. But these kinds of posts have taken on the responsibility to be educational, signed up for it, and then abandoned their duty mid discussion. Finish the job if it’s important and Link!

So, it isn’t Trans*(any variation) because that is meant to cover all trans identities, instead of an individual identity. (Link talking about it) But I’m sure there must be a better article discussing it rather than what I just get out of a quick google search. When you link, you make sure that the information is decent instead of guesswork.

You say trans woman with a space instead of transwoman or trans*woman with no space to preserve it as an adjective describing a woman instead of making it another category, and thus not a real woman. (Link talking about it) But again, the link I found is second hand, someone else talking about reading an original source. If a good link had been provided it could have been a primary source, leading to better curated information.

It’s fine to encourage people to do their own research. If they’re interested, they probably will. If they want to help you, sure, they’ll follow up. But giving them a place to start isn’t just a service to them, it’s a service to you: it’s making sure people get good information instead of whatever their guesswork search returns. Which may very well entirely disagree with you and be full of vitriol (several of my search returns were not friendly to the trans* community). And they’ll certainly never be as good as your favorite discussion that is hidden somewhere deep in a blog. You’ll be lucky if the sites we find on our own hit even the same arguments you think are fundamental.

TL;DR If it’s important we know why it’s trans woman not transwoman or trans* woman include links!

Guy makes a really stupid decision and gets in a car accident -> no real damage from accident but insurance goes up -> starts beating himself up over his stupid decision -> gets depressed -> starts to realize he's single and had crash been worse he'd die alone -> realizes he's never had a relationship or even a crush and starts wondering what he'd want out of a relationship -> starts to realize he doesn't really like girls so he thinks he must be gay -> realizes he likes girls and boys about the same amount, so he must be bi -> later realizes that "same amount" is none at all -> he's ace
