“You’re, like, pretty okay looking, and so, like, do you want an invite to a super cool party? We’re going to have another party for everyone, but… this one’s for the people we care about.”

When the girl said she was pretty okay looking? She wasn’t sure whether to be flattered or offended - she looked down at herself for a moment before shrugging “Sure why not..” She smiled at her - she hadn’t exactly been overly social lately - maybe it was time she started again

“Miss me?” The brunette asked with a small smirk. Her vanishing act was silent and nobody knew where she had disappeared to. In fact, she had only gone home, but she had cut herself off from anybody. After news of a second shooter, her father had insisted she come home. So Riley up and left without a word to any of her classmates; only letting the school know. After endless convincing, she finally got her father to let her return; she didn’t know why she wanted to. Maybe deep down she just needed people around her, specific people mostly, people who we3re there that day. People who weren’t her grief stricken parents.

“Oh totally..” Hazel muttered bitterly under her breath at the sight of the familiar brunette “It’s been such torture without you around” She shook her head

“Glad you do. Honestly, I don’t really know. I ramble when I get uncomfortable.”

“It’s better than being a complete bitch when you get uncomfortable”

“Oh, I’m here to be nice. I mean, as nice as I get.” She looked at the brunette. “But I’m not here to yell at you or something.”

Looking her over once, Hazel nodded “Okay.. Good” she spoke, combing her fingers through her hair “You may continue”

“Well considering you seem to be almost praising his actions.. no it wouldn’t surprise me. “ Taylor looked the female up and down and shrugged. “Is anyone realy truly innocent?” Taylor chuckled which than grew into  laughter, “ Well you know what? When I’m tell I’ll be sure to tell you all about it. Until than it would be easier to assume everyones life would be eaiser if Jack had done the world a favor and killed himself before shooting up the school. “ He stated with a face as striaght as stone. “My friends… I actually have someone and it is the craziest thing becuase you would never think that would happen to me..” Taylor looked her up and down on more and smirk. “Do what most girls do who are related to serial killer, join a strip club.” This time a smirk was on his face and iched to hear Hazel’s reaction, curious to see what words would set her off.

"Did you just tune out the part where i said i don’t justify his actions? Or are you as stupid as you look?” She rolled her eyes, clearly losing patience.  “Never” she answered simply “So you’re guilty too..” she repeated, gritting her teeth slightly when he spoke about her brother killing himself “No one should ever feel so inclined to take their life. Don’t even joke about it.. Because it’s not funny. You have no idea what you’re talking about” she stated coldly, not so much as flinching as he moved closer to her. Honestly? the brunette was seriously done taking people’s crap. Including Taylor’s “Wow..” she laughed gently “i have to say.. that was a really bad attempt at trying to get me to crack” she admitted “You’re going to have to try a lot harder than that..” she stared up at him.

“How nice is it, now that everything has settled down alot” she said to her. “Now that people don’t look at us like the ones responsible for what jack did to this school” she added. “Yeah; I’m sorry that I haven’t been around. I’ve been distracting myself. Trying to get back in to the old routine, trying to get on.. Has mom called you this week?”

Hazel smiled and nodded “I mean.. it’s nice not walking down the corridor and feeling every single pair of eyes staring at us..” she admitted “It’s okay - i can’t exactly talk - i haven’t been around all that much either..” she admitted “I haven’t spoken to mom in a while now” Hazel admitted

Lillian looked up, smiling softly at her sister. “Oh, Hey you. I thought you were someone else. Sorry” she told her. “What’s up, Hazel?” she asked her sister, patting the spot next to her on her bed. “Do I need to hunt down anyone?” she lightly joked.

“That’s okay.. i figured” she smiled taking a spot next to her “No you’re fine” she laughed “Nothing really - i just wanted to say Hey now everythings died down a bit.. it feels like ages since i’ve seen you and you’re my sister..” she shook her head

Benji kept his eyes on Hazel as she approached “What?!” he called out in response to hearing his name “I’m not hurting myself, Haze. I’m having fun– and the quicker you take the photo, the quicker I’ll get down!” he laughed, swaying back and forth– his hands tightly gripping the railing just in case he did lose his balance.

Hazel narrowed her eyes as she looked up at him “I’m not taking a photo.. Get your ass down from there Benjamin Preston!” She demanded as she watched him sway “Jesus christ..” she rubbed her forehead “You’re going to fall and i’m going to have to drag you to a hospital and have you seen how fucking short i am? I can’t drag you benji!”

Taylor cocked his eyebrow and stroked his beard with his hand. “You knew he was fucked up and you did nothing about it. He isn’t that victim in this situation. “ He shook his head and breathed slightly heavier, “He is not the victim in any of this. He made everyone around him  a victim of his recklessness. Instead of doing hat normal people do and joining a sport.. He.. he shot u the school. .. And see I would feel bad execpt he is not on the list he made. He blame 13 other people for his problems. Execpt his was the problem, none of us did as much to him as he did to himself. “ Taylor inched closer to Hazel “ Facing the unknown would be much easier then what was going to have to face had he still been alive.” Taylor smirked at her challenge and shrugged, “ Because I made a promise to one to many people that I would finish school, lead the team in Lacrosse , fuck the hottest girl on campus, and so much more. So had I gotten the chance I would of been out of here. But I need to make memories for my friends who cant anymore. “ Looking at Hazel he spoke before she could even make a sound. “Why are you here?”

“I did as much as i could - i was always there!” Hazel shook her head “You think if i saw this coming i would’ve just let it happen?” she asked “Of course i wouldn’t.” She brushed her fingers through her hair. “Maybe so but those people aren’t completely innocent either..” Hazel countered, moving slightly closer as well. Hazel was stubborn after all. “How can you say that.. when you’ve never personally been in that position..” she kinked her eyebrow, laughing as he spoke next “And who would be crazy enough to take you up on such an offer?” she folded her arms accross her chest. Looking back at him, not daring to show weakness she answered “Where else was i supposed to go?” she asked

Hazel had to admit she had probably had too much to drink but after everything lately? She honestly felt like she deserved it. She could see the sun dipping below the horizon as she was sitting on the stands out by the football field, drink in hand. She could see the silhouette of somebody approaching but couldn’t make them out yet “Stop!” she pointed at them “Unless you’re going to be nice, please turn around”

“I didn’t think i had to knock..” Hazel gave a gentle smile as she headed over to her

Benji stood at the top of the grandstand, right at the very edge. He’d been drinking, this time with a few of his friends who’d all headed back to their dorms once they’d got back. Instead of going with them, Benji had ended up at the soccer field. He’d always come here to smoke. It was somewhere he could clear his mind. However, this time he’d chosen to lean himself over the railing overlooking a large amount of concrete rather than sitting himself down. He could see someone walking by and stood up straight, calling out to them “Oi, take a picture!” he laughed “Seriously, please– do it!” he added, hopping up higher and almost loosing his balance at the same time.

Hazel had been out clearing her head when she spotted the figure climbing up onto the railing of the grandstand. She knew that voice. She knew it was Benji -she knew him well enough to know. Hazel headed over hastily - he sounded drunk and to be honest? She didn’t really want him hurting himself. “Benji!” she called out “What are you doing? You’ll hurt yourself..”

“So I mean why do people say their favourite hobby is eating when it’s essential to human life, I don’t get that. And I also don’t get how everyone is like ‘I’m not my true self when I’m drunk’ like why? Are you just hiding your actual self to everyone and it only comes out when you’re drunk?”

“I agree with both of these things.. what confuses me is why we’re talking about them..” Hazel admitted

“This isn’t supposed to be our college life."he sighed."Weren’t supposed to find ourselves and get drunk,have sex. The only thing we are supposed to stress about are exams. Not our lives on the line.”

“tell me something i don’t know..” hazel sighed gently “I just want things to go back to the way they used to be.. where i was literally almost carefree” she admitted
