When Blitzkid started Tracy had a bunch of songs written that went on to be Songs For The Aesthetically Challenged. When i Joined the band around a year later he was still writing all the music and now they were fast becoming all horror rock oriented. Around that time I jumped in to give songwriting a shot and wrote The Hills Have Eyes (my first real song). I started writing more and more with the intent that Tracy would be singing them. After about 9 or so songs were written he said 'why don't you sing these'? I said I don't know how. He said, 'Well, the way you want to sing them is taxing on my voice, besides it's punk rock who cares?" Point taken. (For the record I was just screaming like an idiot so i don't blame him) haha. So i started singing. There were still a few songs though that I wrote that i thought Tracy would be better at doing. Can't remember what the first one was. Don't think we ever did it. The other was The Creature Walks Among Us. So he continued to sing that one. From that point on though It basically went like this: Structurally speaking, we pretty much wrote our own songs. I'd sit down with a guitar and write all the parts for my songs, and vice versa. We'd call each other up and say 'Hey, I wrote a new song!!" We'd get together and show each other what we had, and each add our own ideas to whatever it was from there. I'd add whatever bass ideas i had to his and he'd show me guitar ideas for mine. When we were happy with all of that, we'd write vocal harmonies together. From that point on we pretty much shared songwriting duties equally and continued to do so. Some albums were more Tracy songs, and some were mainly mine. Some were 50/50. DIdn't matter,I always saw them as just ours and was happy to have cool songs. However it played out was never planned. It was just whatever we had written that was ready at the time for each recording. A lot of people are confused about who wrote what on Apparitional. Tracy and I both wrote those songs. They're pretty 50/50 on that one. What happened is Tracy left the band in the middle of recording the record and the label asked me to sing his songs since i was the only singer left. It's that simple. Besides all that, its pretty much the way it was said to be earlier by someone. Whoever sang it pretty much wrote 95% or more of the song. The only exception is The Creature Walks Among Us. And that my ghoulies concludes this chapter of Blitzkid storytime! LONG LIVE THE HORROR!
