I know we just met a few short hours ago, but I fell in love with you as SOON as I saw your face
Right. Okay. When Honoka’s back to her feet is when he can take their chance to remove them from this place, walking away from the stall with little more than an awkwardly mumbled thanks as he listens to Honoka’s commentary. It is pretty nice, he supposes, but still… Strange adults doing things for him out of the blue is always a little disconcerting.
When she notes the heat however, he gives a short shake of his head. “I’m fine. There’s this now, so…” Holding up the bottle, he attempts to dissuade her. That is to say, it’s hot yeah, but this is the lesser of two evils - he’d rather have the cool water to help him survive the heat than have to somehow attempt to keep up with Honoka if she gets it in her head that a fan needs to be acquired right now right away immediately. Speaking of which, undoing the lid he figures a sip now can’t hurt, and may even work to prove his point. (He’s weak. It’ll be gone fast for him, but it’s still the lesser of two evils.) If only the attempt of hers to imitate the merchant’s laugh didn’t nearly cause him to choke on it in shock. Coughing a little he’s about to tell her it sounds more like they’ve both got something caught in their throat, but when his eyes meet hers…
Oh no… Ohhhh no… Essentially, when he looks up the best way to describe the feeling he gets is that he’s just unlocked a CG in a dating sim. Everything behind her is in a soft blur, but somehow Honoka’s radiant features only shine brighter and brighter as time slows down. His cheeks are getting hot for some reason and he can feel his heart beating against his chest. It’s lucky when the initial effect passes after a few moments of blinking, rubbing at his eyes from how suddenly the atmosphere had shifted back to almost normal, and it’s a relief.
Unfortunately… the after-effects don’t leave, and when he looks up the fact of the matter is that even though Honoka no longer sparkles even just the soft line of her smile is enough to cause his chest to tighten. He wants to pull his gaze away, keep his eyes glued to the ground just the same way he always does when he gets this troublesome (read: frightening) feeling tugging at him, but this time something won’t let him. His cheeks get redder and redder - though with an attempt at salvaging his previous doubtful expression he does pick up his words from before.
“It’s weird when you do it.” The laugh, that is. Just hearing it sends a shiver down his spine at the thought of the vendor, and instead with eyes surprisingly (and boldly, for him,) focused on Honoka still he instead reaches out a hand to intertwine his fingers with hers and tugs her a little closer. He doesn’t know why he does it, but he wants to. More like, he has to. It feels like going even one second longer with that distance between them would have been unbearable? “I said I’m fine, so you don’t have to go wander off Honoka. Keeping up with you is tiring…”
Of course to Honoka, a bottle just isn’t enough so she’s trying to find something to help the other out-- if there’s anything. He does deserve to feel his best when just following her around and going with almost (read as none) of her schemes which must get tiring? Giving a glance to the bottle she does not but back to important matters, a fan, a fan, do they even have sockets around here to borrow? She doubts it. A step forward, she squints her eyes to see in a farther distance, wondering if there’d be something at that stand and yet it doesnt’ seem too likely.
Pointing towards the stand as she looks back at Kenma with a wide smile, she hopes that this effort will help him change his mind. Yet that doesn’t seem to be the case as he starts rubbing his eyes, did something get caught in them? “Do you want me to blow on your eye, are you OK?” She asks, a little worried he may be going through something? Is the sun in his eyes? Though this isn’t the case either, the laugh isn’t something he likes to tough and Honoka believes that maybe he rubbed his eyes because he couldn’t believe what he saw.
She can go with that!
“I thought it was pretty cute it sounded really strong!” Though, being stared at without a look that reads he doesn’t really care, she looks both left and right to figure out what’s got his attention? Probably something really interesting, a step forward so she could take the lead and walk, she can feel fingers slip between her own, warmth located in her hand and steps back to where she’s back by his side. She has no complaints, she really doesn’t but she does look up to him with a slight pout on her features.
“But Kenma, are you sure? I could walk a little slow I mean it’s no fun if you can’t do these things with me!!” Honestly, she doesn’t want to do a lot without him since they’re suppose to be spending this time together. Is this dramatic, she doesn’t mean to be but you know, she doesn’t want him to pass out from heat exhaustion.
