Dammit, now he was reminded as to why he hated this day. Sure January 11th was important for obvious reasons and he was allowed all sorts of attention and gifts, but this was the one thing he disliked about it in particular. Because he was now turning eighteen, his parents had asked for him to come with them to head to the House of Ichijou for some type of tea ceremony or whatever. He loathed the stiff things, but decided that it wouldn’t exactly hurt. The last thing he wanted was to offend them by not showing up. He had to keep in mind just what place he was in. He was merely an adopted child — not someone that particularly matters. He wasn’t exactly flesh and blood, that’s for sure.

With much experience, he easily put his kimono on. It was tough when he first did it, but now it was something he could do with his eyes closed. He made sure that it was all neatly done before looking into the mirror, gently patting his cheeks as reassurance to himself. A smile grew on his lips as he glanced at himself, lilac eyes sparkling from behind his glasses. Good, this was really looking good. He only needed to—

—Whoa!

He nearly jumped ten feet in the air once he heard the voice, his heart pounding loudly in his chest. Damn, that scared the shit out of him. He knew exactly who this was — there were only few that had a key to his house — and that voice sounded awfully familiar. It sounded just like…

"Riki!" He turned around quickly, a sheepish smile playing on his lips as his eyes caught sight of those beautiful red locks that he loved so much. "Good morning, babe. How’s it goin’? You should’ve called or something so I would’ve been more prepared. Man, it’s so good to see you!" His finger carefully scratched his cheek, only realizing then what it was that he was wearing. Oh…shit! How embarrassing!

Pearly white teeth bit down on his lower lip as his cheeks reddened, walking over to the much taller man to try pushing him out. "I-I’m not presentable! Hold on, let me change first!! I can’t…" Just having his boyfriend see him in his kimono and his glasses were completely embarrassed. He definitely looked like a giant goofball, huh? Sheesh…

Oh, that reaction. Riki absolutely reveled in it, and hearing his name bubble from his lips like that was music to his ears. He wasn't sure how he managed to get through a single day without seeing Kou smile like that; it certainly made his little rendezvous with the door worth it. "Pretty good. Even better, now." He grinned a devious sort of grin, quirking a brow as he took in Kou's appearance. It was the first time he had seen him in both a kimono and glasses, but his only complaint was not having seen it before. So when his boyfriend made to shoo him out of the room, he dug his fingers into the frame and planted his feet on the floor. "Hey now! I came all the way down here to see you, so let me see you." Not presentable, his ass. 

Dipping his head down, he placed a gentle kiss to Kou's forehead. He was clearly a little off-put by Riki's presence, and he was certain it was because of his attire. Hopefully he'd be able to reassure him with the small gesture. "Let me in, or I'll eat all the cake I brought, without you."

"Kou!"

The idol's voice was loud and intrusive, disturbing the morning's silence. A dog, from somewhere down the street, began yapping in response, and a second pooch echoed. Riki knew he should feel a little more guilty about the chain of yips he was setting off so early in the day. But today was special. It was his boyfriend's birthday, and the first - of hopefully many - he'd be sharing with him as more than a friend; to say he was excited would be an understatement. 

The teenager shifted outside of the door, drawing the inside of his cheek between his molars. For a moment, he contemplated calling out for him again, but the dogs had finally settled down, and the last thing he wanted was Kou's parents to yell at either of them. With a sigh, he tipped his head back and muttered something that was unintelligible to even himself. Getting inside wouldn't normally be a problem for Riki, given that he had a key to his place, but his hands were a little full with his birthday bearings - breakfast (which he had made with his Senpai's help, lest he give Kou a bad bout of sickness), cake and more than one gift - and said key was settled nicely in his pocket. It seemed, however, that Kou was either fast asleep, or otherwise unaware of Riki's presence outside and thus, unable to let him in. The solution might have seemed simple, just setting everything down so he could retrieve his key, but there wasn't a way in hell he was letting Kou's gifts touch the ground.

"Alright, you little asshole. If that's how we're gonna play it," he grumbled under his breath, his tongue drawing out between his lips in concentration as he balanced to assortment of presents on the flat of his palm. His other hand slowly and hesitantly slipped into his pocket, his index finger hooking into the ring of his keys. Aha, victory was his! 

Riki hummed in satisfaction when he managed to unlock the door without any causalities, and he promptly stepped inside to sit the boxes down before that changed. Once that was accomplished, his next mission was to find Kou and flick his nose. Considering the living room was clear of his boyfriend's presence, he concluded that he was almost definitely upstairs - Naoto would be proud - and hurried up to his room, not bothering to knock or otherwise announce his presence, as much as he should have. He figured his shouting earlier should have compensated for that. 

He was kind of glad he hadn't, because the sight that greeted him was appreciated. Maybe it was his birthday. All intentions of following through on flicking Kou's nose had dissipated at this new situation, and Riki took to leaning against his door-frame instead. 

"Good morning."

Character in general: Okay tbh before I met this Kou, I actually didn't really care for him. I MEAN I LIKED HIM, but he wasn't one of my favorite characters.
