my dnd party has run into an npc who may or may not be evil and may or may not decide to betray us and the dm was in chat today like “just so everyone knows…not addressing this comment at anyone in particular…his favorite colors are red and black…wink” so now i’m desperately trying to get a real physical friendship bracelet done before session tomorrow in the vain hope that i can somehow stop this npc from trying to do a murder on my party

UPDATE: the npc was in fact a shapechanged adult black dragon with violence and conquest in his heart. however he did let merry put a friendship bracelet on him and then when she was like “hm okay how big is your wrist in dragon form” he was like “you wanna see?” and then turned into a dragon and let merry measure him for a second, dragon-sized friendship bracelet. the dm described him afterwards as being deeply confused as to why he did this or let any of this happen to him. call that the merry effect

this guy is now a recurring npc because merry was SO determined to make him her friend that it actually somehow worked. he cast dream to talk to one of my party members like “hey…how’s it going…how are the tieflings in the party…not that i care…also i’m not lonely. bye” and the player was like “is he still wearing merry’s friendship bracelet in this dream” and the dm was like “yeah…”

so merry taught naeric (the dragon) the power of love, obviously, and because his heart was open and beautiful he started dating…a SECOND evil dragon. and then that gf betrayed him and cast ninth level imprisonment on him so now naeric is our damsel in distress and we have to save him from his girlfriend, the actual villain. how the turntables…

and. in the most horrible plot twist of all. the gf stole his friendship bracelet.

Spellcasters hate this fact but if you just stick your fingers in their mouth while they're casting a spell with a verbal component it's literally more effective than a counter spell.

We are a fan-run encyclopedia hosted by Miraheze, a free, volunteer-run ad-free wiki hosting platform, based on MediaWiki, the same software Wikipedia runs on.

The Adventure Zone wiki was started on Fandom.com in 2015, and was edited as the show started airing. In April and May of 2023, the active users migrated all data to the new platform.

We currently stand as a HUGE work in progress. Virtually every page needs extreme edits, and we are working on setting up several editing guides and making those accessible. You should see a lot of changes in the coming months.

In the meantime while we wait for these organization techniques to come together, and for style guides to be updated, you can peruse the pages and add any missing information you notice.

possibly controversial dndads opinion so it’s below a read more and not tagged don’t come for me!!!

i love linc the character but matt the player has been borderline insufferable to me lately 💀 i don’t know why but he’s been doing things that put the plot to a standstill all for a joke or a laugh. like i get that out of pocket interjections is kind of his thing but can’t we like, get some story going first?

in ep 36: he just going on and on abt him and taylor jumping off the building as if we didn’t just go through an entire episode of them IN SPACE!!!! and it grinds the story to a halt and isn’t that funny bc all he’s doing is basically yelling at everyone (and lowkey, you could tell will wasn’t abt it)

and then as we were getting to the emotional crescendo of losing terry jr he has to make a joke right at the end instead of letting the scene ride and it’s like. you’re a writer? how do you not see that you cut into a devastating scene? it just REALLY took me out of the episode this time

like i don’t care if it’s a nitpick or a just me problem, i’m just venting and don’t need or want anything to come from it but dude i did a relisten of season 2 from the start and it goes from funny to grating pretty fast and idk how much more i can take before i have to put this season down for good
