Hi everyone. I would not usually do this but I really need the help. My name is Jela and I’m 18 years old. I recently completed my first year of university in Behaviour, Genetics and Neurobiology. There was an end of the year party on campus that my best friend went to and she called me to come and pick her up because she was drunk and she couldn’t drive home. Long story short, I arrived at the house looking for her, and I had an encounter with a guy in one of my classes. He told me that my friend was in one of the bedrooms and he led me there. When we arrived, he locked the door and he forced himself on me. No one could hear my screams since it was a party and the music was blaring. I tried fighting him off but nothing worked he was too strong… He took my virginity. When he was done I was in disbelief, shock and in pain. I didn’t know what to do so I called my friend to come pick me up. I didn’t tell anyone what happened because I thought it was my fault and I felt so ashamed. A few weeks later I found out that I was pregnant. I finally mustered up the courage to tell my parents and when I told them they kicked me out. They thought I was using the rape as a cover up and they didn’t believe me. I’m ¾ Nigerian and I lived in a strict African/Christian household so they did not take this news well at all. Right now, I am living in my car and my parents have stopped supporting me financially. I’m scared and I’m scared for my baby. I don’t know what to do and I am in desperate need of help. I need a place to stay, money for food and other necessities for me and my baby while I look for a job. I do not want my innocent child to suffer or grow up in horrible living conditions because of what happened to me. Please help me and if you can’t please spread my page around I’ll really appreciate it.
