quick update post for myself & WB:

it turns out that several Philippine LGUs have mandated Tumblr be blocked on local ISPs. WB has no access at all, while I currently still have access through mobile data on a specific telecom provider. However, we’re not sure if access will be taken off any moment now, so this is just an explanation for any future absence. 🙇

the gardenias are in bloom

nvm this has been sitting in queue for so long the gardenias died back down 🗿 on the bright side the Palawan cherry is starting to bloom for the first time

Prinsesa Gutrune at Donya Flowdia

After living for close to a hundred years, Flowdia still stands strong as a bastion of Armoroad's old guard -- the people who remember its glory days as a jewel of the archipelago. While she continues to guide Armoroad on a path of recovery, very few remember how vibrant the city's matriarch once was.

On the other hand, Armoroad's historical princess Gutrune continues to be honoured with ceremonial representations long after her reign. Interestingly, the figureheads appear to become paler through the years. Rumor has it that the Senatus merely gives young girls the chance to fill out a dream before they pass of illness.

a very loose, passing idea Marty originally floated in 2022. we stewed in it for a while until we dabbled with the concept again for a school plate, the post of which still exists on the blog but don't go looking for it it's old

it's grown so much since then from the handful of personal pieces we made after, and it's very exciting to see it get sculpted and realized after all this time 🥹 the members of the Armoroad court have definitely become WB's babies, which is a surprise to both of us

the concept had been brewing in Marty's head for some time now, but any serious, tangible production only started on the 23rd of June when he decided to take the leap and create this piece to commemorate the game's 13th anniversary

i wanted to contribute something too, so i threw in these two moment boards for Marty and i to see the little guys in situations and cry about them

crunched this mf in a little less than 2 weeks but we managed to actually have this up on the day itself, YESSS

some early drafts :) as for the writing, Marty was also inspired by Korean film I Saw The Devil so. 😳. some big revenge film vibes.

[Marty taking over] WB would approach me with suggestions on the specific vehicle type & interior hehe, which helped hasten the process and allow them to finish the work within the two week period. they wanted to note that learning such a process back in college (despite how unhelpful most of the professors were during thesis creation) did help in streamlining the process, letting us know where to start and where to go next.

I (@martilyongabo) tried my best to finish this goober of a piece by 21, but as you can tell, I didn't get to. tapped out, passed the file to @anoldwishbone and she made a beauty out of it.

Happy EO1 Anniversary!

With 2025 coming to a head start, we might as well formally introduce some old friends from posts past.

As always, longer descriptions and blurbs are under the cut!

Fallon Feigenbaum. A dark hunter and solo gatherer, specialising in binding monster parts for safe harvest. Despite his work, he's incredibly skittish around the labyrinthspawn, both large and small.

Once ran away from a Stalker and accidentally brought it back up to the surface. The Guildmaster never forgot about it, much to Fallon's distress.

Warren Fraunhoffer. Another solo gatherer for Etria's trade. Flat-toned and sharp-eyed, they hunt for both rare monster parts and herbs for their next dish.

He brought a pot with him to the labyrinth once, but it disappeared after he left it to stew overnight. He's not so sure where it is right now but he hopes he gets it back soon.

Alma Fraunhoffer. Everyone's favourite (loathed) scientist. Much to Radha Hall's horror, she has turned her eyes to the secrets hidiing within the labyrinth, and she will do all she can to unearth it.

Fun Fact: Did you notice her hands in the StPxEO drawing? Wishbone did a very good job there.

Emi Murakami. Following her brother's trials in Armoroad, she decided to take tutelage under the famed ronin Ren. It takes her a long while to get to Etria, even when she has a map.

When she's not practicing her swordsmanship, she enjoys engaging in needlework. Now, where could she buy some thread here in Etria? Hmm...

Phil Denning. An instrumentalist from a tiny hamlet west of Etria. Well-versed in many instruments, but tends toward the violin when busking throughout town.
