He looked over his menu for himself. The pie maker never knew how to answer those kinds of questions. Just cause he liked it, doesn’t mean every one would. ❝Well… I suggest the blackberry pie cup. It has fresh honey baked in to the crust.❞ Ned set the menu down and gave a gentle smile. ❝We also have chocolate pie if you want something cold instead.❞ He poured coffee in to a cup and set it down for her.
She shrugged and smiled, trying to put him at ease. This was what she did wherever she went. When she was very young she'd realized that she understood people far more deeply than most because she could literally feel how they felt and what type of person they were, just by being near them. So it was natural by now for her to try to boost the morale of those around her, not only because it hurt her to see others in distress (which it did), but because it was nigh impossible to be happy when someone else's sadness or anxiety or anger was overwhelming her.
In this instance, the man before her seemed uncomfortable, so she tried chatting a little further to help him relax. "They both sound absolutely delicious," she said, taking a drink of coffee. "Can I have both? I know that sounds weird, but I'm actually really hungry."
